I just realised that I have not bought a car from a private sell here in Australia before.

Everyone pays stamp duty right?

What about GST if it from a private seller?

Stamp Duty is paid on the transfer of ownership (on the document evidencing the transfer - transfer form). Check out WA's archaic motor vehicle SD rates formula here:

No GST on car purchase for private/personal use.
