i own a 1987 soarer Gt 2.0TT auto, with the original 1G-GET engine, it unmodded and running 10psi atm....the boost use to be 5psi, boosted it up yesterday
for some reason since i got this car, it's been really slow at take off, even if i floor it at stand still, it will only be a lil quicker then a normal take off! i use to think it because the boost is low, but now i got it up to 10psi it still the same~ i dont really have another soarer to compare with so i dont know if that is normal for this model or whats goin on... i use to own a 1994 mitsubishi magna 2.6 auto, it's also stock, but that car had much better take off, even when the engine was on it way out...
the Soraer has been taken care and and there is nothing wrong with the engine, once i get enough speed and the turbo kicks in, it runs fine, the power output has no problem once the car is rolling.

I think what you are experiencing is called turbo lag with the addition of a small capacity engine. I never owned the 1GGTE, i had the 1GGEU (non turbo 2L). So initial take off will be slow especially with a car that weighs a fair bit for a 2L.

thanks for the reply man, i was think about that too.....maybe the car is too heavy.... the thing is tho, no matter how hard i floor it, even if i put it down to L, i cant rip a burn out......
i can do that in my old magna with a blown engine, also in many other low power cars... so i dont see why i cant do it in the soarer

Well I've had a 1JZ in my GZ20 for a year now, it does rip it up from the word go a fair bit, but the extra 500cc and small ceramic turbos help a fair bit. The 2L and single turbo may no go all that well off the line for spinning wheels. Maybe try having the brakes on and then let her rip

well 1JZ is a much powerful engine then the 1G-GTE i heard it actually one of the best turbo charged engine in the toyota family~
in terms of my soarer, i did try EVERYTHING to make her rip.... she just dont want to~!! my friends prelude stock, normal engine (non-vtec) beats me on take off but once the speed picks up, that is when the fun begin lol
maybe if i remap the ECU it might help? really want a bit more kick on the take off~ not that i am a drag racer but around my area there are lot of teenagers / P plater driving around thinking they own the street
just wanna have some fun, and showing them what a old old toyota coupe can do, one they probably have no idea of what it is, goin head to head with them, or hopefully beating them LOL

Live in Townsville. I head out to the drags now and then. Just last weekend I got a 13.7sec in full street trim. Will put on my old soarer rims and drop the pressures, see how we go then. If you want to know a bit more about my car look here: www.nengeun.com/member/ryan
