from my conversion experiance, it should be a gen 2 ECU, manual, as these motors had a second one for auto's that just connects the the loom via a white plug.

from what ive heard there was a tuning difference in the auto and manual ecus with the manual being a lil more agressively tuned thats why im asking but if the auto and manual had a different loom for the ecu then its of no use to me

Another urban myth perhaps? Why would Toyota use the same part number for manual and autos? ... maybe they mysteriously and unofficially tampered with either to make them different? doubt it...

i am running an "auto" ecu in my manual and it runs fine, although i did only pull 6psi.
Which brings me to my next question which i am sure someone was gonna say. How can the ECU control my boost pressure? there are pipes about 5 cm long that connects the watsegate to the turbo pipes, so i can't see how the ECU can effect that at all.

Yeah, sorry i missunderstood your "I know 7MGTE's run different boost pressures from factory between the auto and manual. " statement and thought it was ECU related, didn't read the whole thing...
