Guys ive been wanting to do this for a while but due to lack of funds and me buying a house ive been putting it off ( no money in a nut shell, loll0 so ive though that maybe if some guys off here can help me out i might be able to do the conversion with minimal spending of $$$$$$$

i have all the parts needed to convert the automatic gz20 soarer to manual gearbox xcept for a tailshaft which i might have to get custom built
if anyone here can help me out pls reply here as i have no other option but leave all the stuff in garage and wait for the money (lolllllllllllllllllllll) or sell all the stuff which i dont want to do considering how much of effort went into sourcing the bits needed

btw im in melbourne
thanks for reading and if u want to help pls feel free to reply back or ring or msg me

Steve, you need to get the tailshaft sorted first. The front half off a manual ma70 should swap over and fit. Then you can talk turkey, as the tailshaft modding will cost $250 minimum.

andrew hows it going
thanks for the helping hand matey i managed to get the stuff of matt and since it has benn sitting in the garage lollll

i figured i had to get the shaft sorted out first and i wa told that the ma70 shaft wont fit properly or something like using the front of the ma70 shaft and the rear of the soarer shaft (is that making any sense) or maybe im talking gibberish

either way the soarers tailshaft has a fubared centre bearing , and with all the hassles of changing shafts around i decided to just get a custom one made up

but if u think theres a better way of me doing it then please let me know

cheers

Steve, you could always try and get another rear auto section, as they would be cheap if the centre bearing is too dear. Just keep watching the forums and you will get a front section.

I will see what happens , might be able to get asecond hand centre bearing in good cond , then have to source a good front end shaft so I can do them up together , otherwise might have to get a single piece shaft made up got quoted around 300 for it so hopefully can be done without much trouble , the only problem I will face is measuring the shaft up when making a new single piece one as the manual box will be different (cant remember weter its longer or shorter) so I have to put the gearbox in to determine the length , but then I cant drive the car to the tailshaft place as the car wont be able to be driven with no shaft lolll

Hey Steve,
I have no idea either - but I'm happy to keep an eye on the beers while some more learned people help you out.
Of course - since mine is a factory manual - you can use it as a template for where everything is supposed to go......

Give me plenty of warning when you are planning on doing it and I'll try and make sure I'm free.

Frankie thanks for offering to help I might be able to measure the length of the drive shaft in car and get a single piece one made up , or maybe even take urs to the shop and let them measure it up so then it cant go wrong , I will give u enuf of time don’t worry it aint gonna happen soon need to save up first as once the shaft is ready then I have to take it to a a shop somewhere and get it all put together , if I knew how to do it I could have done it with some help but since I know jackshit about it its better to pay someone , but that’s where im stuck as ive just bought a house and all and don’t have spare change to put towards the car if some guys were willing we coul hire the hoist and do it in my place or someone splace but no-one seems to know or want to help , so iil let u know when im ready with the cash then if its ok with u we can get the shaft measured up ,
Hows thing going otherwise , ive manged to squeeze in a 2.5 inch cat back press bent exhaust system with a 3 inch hiflow cat , car has a bit more power now and boosts easier , sounds like a skyline now , lollllll

Btw beer and barbecue can be provided if u got some friends that can help Frankie

Hey Steve -
things are good - car is running well - and good to hear that another is enjoying the sound and feel of a Z20 with a better exhaust.

We'll have to try and meet up sometime.

Your version: (Bollocks!).

The correct version: (Noice!).

Around $2.6k, give or take a few hundred, including reconditioning of power steering rack which was nearly leaking. Most of the costs were in parts and couriers from interstate lol, plus new h-d clutch, new single piece tail shaft with competition uni's.
Not cheap, lol.

And I still have to fix the gear surround as its got nothing in there at the moment, and I can hear the gearbox pretty loudly. hehehe

You seem to be new here. What year is your Soarer, colour, mods, and where abouts are you from in Victoria?.

Cheers

In essense: SC is NOT Ricers-r-us.com, and it is appreciated, AND expected that postors (Regardless of age, race, colour, or sexual persuasion) use at least a reasonable approximation of correct use of the ENGLISH language, with appropriate use of capitals & punctuation.

Well if that’s the case then it should read this way.

(What year is your Soarer, colour, mods ------- )

Rather than

What year is your Soarer , colour , mods ------

plus i think the word is posters not postors.
Correct me if im wrong there.

Understood.
But, when correcting someone for their mistake either do it properly or don’t do it.
I'm trying to do my best but alas I am hopeless with punctuations, plus while at work typing in a straight line is easier to avoid clashes with your boss.
Hence the mad rush with words but at least people understand it.
(I am sure there's plenty mistakes in what I have typed but I have tried my best to make it presentable in here so don’t be mad at me)
Cheers.

You did not pick up all the mistakes in Don's example, Steve, but he at least provided a readable text; that is all for which we are asking. I can see that unpunctuated text may be quick to write but it is slow and awkward to read. You should not feel as though you are being picked upon here.

Besides, if anyone were to get too picky then I might loosen a few self-imposed constraints and I am sure no-one wants that to happen

Didn’t think it was necessary to pick up all the mistakes.
But faulting a comma twice in the same line, while correcting someone for the same mistake was ridiculous I thought.
That’s why I only highlighted that sentence
Anyway its Friday things like this happen.
Everyone’s excused I suppose.
W58 is a good box
Tell me, is there a double clutch needed for reverse.
I find that I need to double clutch when on cold starts.

Not commonly for me. Where there is no synchro then it will happen occasionally that teeth meet so you need to spin the lay shaft again to find an engagement. It should just be chance, happening sometimes or in small runs, like tossing a coin.

No worries Steve , and, yes, I did wonder about the whole postors V's posters thingo....And you are right.
Plus, I've fixed my faux pas regarding the gap between the end of words and the comma
