On most Soarers, the cruise control and throttle cables will have stretched a bit. The end result is that you may not get full throttle, and the cruise control can feel a bit tardy switching in and when going up and down hills.

On the V8, remove the small cover plate or large engine cover on the later models. 3 bolts/nuts for each and don't lose them.

(Not all TT's have cruise control, but the equivalent cables if fitted are on the passengers side of the top of the engine.)

Check the cable closest to the front of the car, in my case it had close to 1 cm of slack in it.

Using 2 spanners, loosen the nuts either side of where the cable is clamped, then undo the right nut until there is almost no slack in the inner cable when you pull the outer cable to the left against the nut you loosened. When you have it right, wind in the left nut, then tighten them with the 2 spanners.

Same procedure with the throttle cable which is just behind the cruise control cable.

The third cable going off over the engine is the gearbox Line Pressure Switch (LPS) cable, not a kickdown cable as in many other cars. Making it tighter will make the gear changes harsher, eg it will thump harder when going into gear from Neutral. It's probably best not to mess with it unless you have an idea of what you are trying to achieve.
