apparently there is no easy fix apart from either:

A) painting the needles with flurescent paint and throwing in a UV light, or
B) replacing the whole cluster.

Yes they can be fixed I have done one of mine te only problem was that i could not get the same colour leds so now one of mine is a lighter orange than the rest but at least it goes.

I intend to find some better leds and do the lot at once.

The only other difference is the light is not as consistant as the original ones

nope, the needles them selves have lights in them, and if you try and pull the needles off to put on wrecker replacements you risk breaking parts on the cluster causing your speedo or whatever, not to be accurate. Im just gunna find some nice bright paint and paint my needles and fit a UV light.

Mine just pulled off carefully with no damage every thing was ok

The needles have LEDs molded into them and can only be replaced by cutting the old ones one and glueing and connecting new surface mount LED's back in.

its a little tricky

sorry to deviate a bit, but is it possible to put a digital soarer dash into an aristo?

doubt it, different looms. I would assume it would be easier to convert a supra cluster into the aristo dash....
