I am just doing some research into a few vehicles and the Aristo is one of the ones at the top of my list. Don't know yet about buying any, but I do need to check a few things first. So onto the silly question - "What is the boot capacity of the Aristo?". I am trying to compare it to other cars. I know that the Ford Falcon, Holden Commodore (neither of which is my list) & Toyota Camry have fairly large boots but need to know the Aristo size.

Hi Will, maximum dimensions are about 165 x 66 x 50 cm (50 being the vertical) - fairly square, dosen't taper much. Can get measurement at the ends if you need. Steve

165 x 66 x 50 = 544500cc = 0.5445 cubic meters.

So Peter this then works out to 19 cu. feet according to the calculators. I swear my gf's Hyundai's cargo space looks a lot bigger than this. Mind you that's cause it's a hatch and also that the rear seats fold down. This is going off information on the web suggesting that the Hyundai (not a car I am getting) says it is 14 cu. ft but it looks a heck of a lot bigger than the boot of an Aristo

It may depend on how they define the space in the Hyundai. Take a hatch with the parcel shelf in, and they don't take so much space. Remove parcel shelf and there is more space available. Fold down the seats and you can virtually fill the entire car body!

Probably the real question is, what do you need to put in the boot? My wife drives a Corolla hatch, we have had things like scaffolding, screen doors, push bikes, walking machines, etc, in it at various times, none of which would fit in the Soarer. But the Soarer does have enough room for us to travel in and take what we need, so that suits us just fine.

Peter contemplating changing to the Aristo from my Soarer. Love the Soarer. Only thing is do I bring myself to buying a 4 door car. Don't know yet, purely doing research at this point.

Aristo makes pretty good sense to me if you need a 4 door.

I'm sure it does and looking at them in the metal they are just so "Yakuza" if I can say that. I mean I don't really need a 4 door, but looking at finances and major things that could go wrong it would make sense to swap. For example Insurance currently is ~$850 p.a. for the Soarer Insurance would be ~$530 p.a. for non-Turbo Aristo Normal excess is ~$200 for either However because of my accident they have a driver excess now (for the next year) of Soarer - $700 Aristo - $300 And other things I look at are the following: Turbo's failing on the Soarer eventually (although they are not boosted so should last a very long time) is going to set me back somewhere around $1500+ (cause I would probably get a mechanic to do it as I do not have the time to do it myself). Fuel costs running a straight 6 vs a straight six turbo.

Will, you most likely read this tread as it covers some comparisons between the soarer and aristo If you looking into one of the earlier imports they come as 3ltr TT or 4 litre V8 4WD.... NA6? have I missed something? I believe they are available as NA6 in the later model 96+ http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/121828/124792.html?1168404684

Greg, the Aristo's were launched with the 3.0L TT and the 3.0L non-turbo. The V8 AWD joined the lineup in 1992 (taken from a few different websites). From what I have read so far, they are actually heavier in petrol than the Soarers, probably due to their weight.

Will, you are correct, there are not many na6 around the place, most seem to be of the TT variety.

yes the aristo will drink more fuel. Logically it has to. 1st Turbo makes boost as low as 2000rpm, its heavier and its got an extra 500cc... The boot is not much smaller than a soarer boot.

Ben Mate when you get a chance do a full tank run for us all so we can actually see what thay do get reading up on factory spec's doesn't really do it for me I want to see what it does in real life when i had my soarer with the aristo motor in it traveling to Adelaide from Melbourne. It worked out that the 1jz and the 2jz were pretty much the same in fuel usage with in about 30km's per tank why i ask is i have 3 comming from japan with in the next month or so and it would be good to know the fuel usage

already done mate 75% hway use gets 650km to a 79litre tank. 75% city use gets 500km to a 79litre tank. Im a bit of a lead foot and i also have a Mines ecu, so the accuracy might not be that good The old Jzz30 soarer used to get at least 700km for hway use. Ben

Great Ben thats about what i used to get as well the 1jz 675-700 highway the 2jz 650-675 highway it just wouldn't get me right into Adelaide i had to splash the tank around murray bridge to make it the rest of the way. AND yer every time i would end up with a speeding ticket,Hmmmmmmmm so now i fly, hahahahahaha
