Ive found an aristo up forsale. Its had the motor, box, ecu and tail shaft removed. What i want to know is whats a decent price to pay and for the price you say is it worth wrecking. Its got 145000kms nov 94
I imported this Aristo through J-Spec early last year. I have all the import papers and compliance papers etc. I had the accident in August and intended on fixing it up but bought another one instead.
The chassis rails are bent at the firewall so it needs to be taken to a panel beaters and put on a straightener if you wanted to fix it up. I took photos to one shop and as a rough estimate they said it might cost about $5000 to repair. With all the Aristo front cuts that are imported, i was going to buy a leftover cut from someone who just wanted the engine and leave it with the repairer. That way they would have all the parts and panels needed. That would be my suggestion if you wanted to go down that path.
The engine was untouched and was still running fine. I was able to drive it away from the scene. The radiator, air con condenser, hydraulic fan housing and some hoses are about the only things that were really damaged. (apart from the panels of course).
If I had the time and room available I would completely strip it and part it out but I need it gone soon so you could easily make some money from it by selling it off as parts. All the electric components work like windows, mirrors etc. The front seat belts need replacing as they have some kind of explosive unit inside them to retract the belts on impact. Airbag was also deployed.
The vehicle is not listed as being written off or anything like that as it wasn't insured and the police said that as i was able to drive it away and no other party's were involved I didn't have to report it.

J-Spec currently have a '97 TT Aristo for sale for about 12K and considering the repair bill will be in excess of 5K (and probably end up a lot more)and the motor gbox etc are gone I'd suspect the car not worth repairing but only for selling the parts. I do stand to be corrected by someone more knowledgable on such things but who would want the grief of repairing a car to that degree when they can buy a good one with 57,000 k's, later model etc. What color is it, I may be interested in the front bar/spoiler if you're interested. How's that for opportunism? Good luck, David
