the whipple is a pretty impressive supercharger, if I did SC it will be the second hand old sc rout as 8k is a bitch rich, like half my yearly income as a uni student hah.

I'm very interested to see how this turns out, I recently sold the Eaton MP112 I had laying around and will now be using a W140AX (Whipple above) instead. Will take abit longer to get done due to the price difference but hopefully in the next 12 months.

There are enough turbo'd 1UZs around to debunk these myths about turbocharging over supercharging
With a pair of (for example) Garrett GT2560s (ball bearing, $1200ea brand new) on a stock engine you will have boost from well under 2000rpm, no lag and no parasitic drag that you get from an SC, and if you do the installation right you dont have to lose aircon plus its easier to intercool and you have more potential for future development.
The torque vs power thing is incorrect too as in this case really what you are saying is "this setup has X amount of power down low whereas this setup doesnt", well low-rpm power will not be an issue on a stock compression low-boost 1UZ regardless of whether it is supercharged or turbocharged!
The only areas where supercharging has it over turbocharging are installation and initial cost...
