Hi Guys Time to have my 2 cents worth..LOL this is getting to be an expensive page.. We all have different aims and there are no wrong decisions for this type of work ... just decisions that suit the owner.. My philosophy built up over the years as a mechanic working at Dynomotive,Dyno Dynamics,MBC, and my own performance shop in Vermont building performance kits for 4wds is simple and suits my driving and lifestyle. Anything that degrades the car in ANY way is unacceptable.. this includes Vibrations, Drone, Noise, clunks, Bangs, Whistles.. you get the idea Power increases that make a car worse to drive Power with no torque Power at too high an RPM range Reduction in a vehicles accessories or warning systems. Mods that affect a vehicles reliability If the car won't hold full noise for 3-5 mins on the rollers it wont hold full noise on the road or track.
This list goes on, I want/need a car that when I get in the air-con works, there are no warning lights on the dash. The car is quiet and confortable, yet handles like its on rails.. A car I can push to it's limits on a track or wherever, then drive it home and do the shopping.
My car currently shows 211Kw and 700+nm torque from a 32 so add 15KW for the 32 gear (can anyone substantiate that figure? it is a guestimate) AT 7.6psi with the Whipple I hope to pull close to 300RWKW, but who knows till it's done. It might make 212RWKW then i will be upset..
The engine when compared to the stock one has buckets loads of grunt down low and will now happily light up the 285/35/18 Michellin Pilot Sports on the rear or pull away smoothly and quickly. The engine is running 8.2 Forged pistons 40 thou up, a set of C's cams and some minor headwork. This has made the FACTORY ECU perform like a gem even before the Ultimate was installed no detonation and the fcatory ECU just worked.. The other interesting note is that the M90 would push 10PSI into the old engine but this one it barely makes 7.6PSI. The M90 can not keep up with the engine's demand for air. There is also no difference with the air flap on the air cleaner up or sealed with no BFI.
The exhaust is Lew's extractors (bigger primaries) Mini Cats @2.5" x2 then into a 2 in 2 out resonator on the centre of the car, then branches off to custom SS resonators with straight through design fiited into the existing holes under the back seat and using the existing mounts, then 2.5" pipe to the rear SS straight through mufflers... No Drone and free flowing.
The next step is to use Bullets manifold adapt a tower of terra water air intercooler into the manifold and try to get the whole lot under the bonnet. yeah right! thats going to happen
We all try to get the best from out cars and we should all be proud of the results we get.
I read all the mods people do, some I throw away as not for me, others I embrace and use for my own cars, that is the power of the internet "a sharing of ideas" Some of the ork I have seen done on peoples cars leaves me speechless at the professionalism and care that has been taken.. you guys are doing things we as professionals 30 years ago could only dream about..

Hi Tai No I did not take it that way either and no one has offended me in anyway.. it's great to see people taking different approaches and we all learn from the successes and mistakes.. This is why I will always post up the bad results I get as well as the good.. The other thing I failed to say is that Cihan is a worthwhile choice for installing/tuning an ultimate.. I am more than happy with the installation of the unit and the more units he gets to fit the more knowledge we all will have access to. There is one point I will note here for those who are still learning and those who like me are so old they have forgotten half the stuff we ever knew.. After the Ultimate was installed (10days) the car started to cut out the tacho would go full noise and the engine would stop.. After some investigation we discovered that the Factory ECU earth wires were not earthed properly and the Ultimate was madly triggering both fuel and igntion.. We added another earth wire to the chassis and this fixed the problem. Most electrical issues are faulty earths and never presume an earth is good.. Now I have to find the earth problem for the factory ECU. Car runs faultlessly now with the Ultimate and factory ECU.

Glad we figured that one out Peter, i was starting to get worried!
Looking forward to the whipple setup (what ever it may be), i think with some persuasion and a little bonnet augmentation the 2.3 with air/water or straight 3L is going to shatter your pirelli's comfortable grip on things

Dan, you said you dont know why people dont use centrifugals more, I gave you an answer.
Im not sure there has been any whipples running 13's, only eatons. Not many people are prepared to the serious $ down to do a proper twin screw installation.
When peter puts in the whipple, you will see what I mean.
