Well, my soarer has been off the road for months now and I may as well convert it to a manual.

I was wondering what are the pros and cons of the W58 compared to the R154. I have seen a few of the conversions done with both.

Bastard!

I have no idea of their pro's and con's, but I will be jealous of either one :-)

Price would probably be the pro for the W58, however at least one header has to be removed to get the box in and out. A bit of a pain if you have a tendency to blow clutches.

I am going to use Neils adaptor to run the r154 on my uzz30. I used the Dellows kit on my old 31 , but i had always wanted to keep the pull clutch. Neil is the only one that does this.

What box did you use Nathan?

Ideally, I would rather use the V160 but that gearbox is worth more than a soarer these days.

The W58 is about half the cost of the R154, so it is looking to be a more economically viable option at this stage unless I continually blow these up.

Andrew, how did you find the Dellow kit on your old 31?

Neil, whats you opinion on the conversion. Are you still using your cruise control.

I used the W58 with the Dellow bellhousing kit, at the time the R154 was still in its early stages and the bellhousings were one off's, so were quite costly. However the new engine build that Im starting soon will have the R154 at least behind it.

Cruise control is retained, Paul, and available in all five gears :-)

Cheers David,

Did you use a clutch cancellation switch for the cruise control?

Yes, Neil did. Off by clutch or the expected brake.
