Well mixed results. Bridged the fuel pump ecu and drove 1.5 hours to work. On a scale of 10 where 10 was how it was running prior to by-passing the ecu...we are now an easy 3. No idle dips and the stutters while cruising are far less frequent and in intensity. Still happening though. Makes me thinks we're dealing with more than one fault.
Glad my suggestion helped.. also make sure that the relay you are using for y our pump is upto the job. i had a 30 amp relay on my 044 and thought that it would be fine.. somehow it was not letting enought current through when it got hot and the car was leaning out. went through a couple fuel pumps before i diagnosed the problem.

Chihan,
Not trying to offend here, just supporting my opinion that it will be of benefit, but hey, at the end of the day if it doesn't work, it’s all for the benefit of the members who wont make the same mistake, that is why we are posting up the build. Yes you are correct the M90 is on the small side and definitely not the choice for high HP. This was always being built as a street car so the twin-screw option wasn’t really necessary or cost effective. I know we have not maxed out the potential of the M90 flow wise, but the air temps are unacceptable. Any tuner worth one salt would tell you that 100 deg plus intake temps are a joke and best left for the hotrod, two holleys on top of a 6-71 builders! We anticipate only a few psi pressure drop across the core and at least 40-50 drop in temp, so with the drive stepped up a little higher to compensate, I think we will see a net gain in peak power, but if not, it will at least make running that boost pressure more reliable as you stated. For the record has anyone actually used this yella-terra intercooler before?

Hi All,
Well things are moving along. The bonnet bulge is selected. We are going with a VN SS bulge which is apparently slightly flatter than the group A bulge. Some people will like it, others will hate it...but it fits the bill perfectly with regards to what I need.
Still haven't played any further with the fuel pump solenoid. Hopefully the weekend will give me some time. Keep you posted.

Took delivery of the new base plate from Bullet, this matches the bolt pattern of the intercooler and the old base plate will be used on top of the intercooler to bolt the YT onto the intercooler. The intercooler and both plates will see a tour of duty on my milling machine to optimise the flow through the whole assembly... A small hole will be drilled sideways through the top plate (original bottom plate) and tapped to suit a 1/16 NPT fitting as shown to run to a second MAP sensor so we can measure pressure on both sides of the core. The Motec will data log both pressures to assess the pressure loss across the core. This along with the final intake temp and power output will give us a good idea of the overall efficiency of the intercooler.

going to run 25psi this weekend!!! wanna break 400rwkw!!! on pump fuel then i will be happy : ) thats on the street haha will post up dyno sheet this weekend, getting new tune this weekend come on 400!!!!!! Pretty much done everything to the car, bigger vortec charger!!! intercooled motec m800 yeh couldnt really be bothered listing everything!!! will take a video of dyno and chuck it on youtube so everyone can view : )

Looking good Mick.
Hows the larger charger go compared to the old one. When's boost come on. I'm still working on my charger setup. 400RWKW sounds great, I'm still hoping to get 300 out of the V1. Just finished reworking the exhaust and bought a manual conversion. I'll have to start posting up some pics of the kit.

it comes onto boost at 2800 but because of the 8 throttle body injection itis still very snappy down low, but when she comes on its pretty scary haha sounds awesome to, yeh mate post up some pics, will be awesome with your manual conversion dont know how you will go with handling and diff is gonna feel it haha

Might have to look at one of your injection systems too then. I've upgraded the suspension and sway bars and bought a torsen diff to suit the manual. I'm looking forward to finishing it, but it just comes down to time.
I'll get some pics up when i get back home, working up north QLD at the moment so she's in storage as per usual.

David, i know what you mean. My concern is that its a waste of time because strong theory and past experience suggests so. The M90 is already being oversped with pulley ratio's under 2:1 (70mm) and its already out of compressor. Further steps to improve power output are like grinding water from stone - uneconomical.
For reasonable power per dollar we need 140 or more cui/rev of capacity and good efficiency with these engines otherwise i honestly don't think it warrants the money (just my opinion). Adding to that, especially not when you've spent thousands on standalone management, installation and tuning costs.

Out of interest is everyone keeping to the 14,000 rpm continuous rpm rating? or is anyone leaning on this?
With a crank:pulley ratio of 2:1 = 70mm diameter ~7,000rpm is your engine rev limit. That probably gives about 190rwkw..
-- Sorry if i come across as brash, good luck with the project.

Hi Guys,
I want to install a TT airbox and rid the car of the restrictive AFM. When I unplug the AFM the TRC turns off. Can anyone tell me how to trick the factory ecu??
Monday, July 28, 2008 - 03:23 pm, by: David Marriott(Blo400)
No probs Chihan, your not being brash at all, your making sure we dot our “i’s” and cross our “t’s. This project did evolve a little faster than expected when the stage one kit would not come close to running with the factory ECU at 6psi. (We assume the extra load on the engine at low RPM with the 5 speed was to blame). If I knew the bug was going to bite so hard I agree it would have made more sense to go with a bigger unit straight up, but now we are here we are trying to get the most out of what we have got.
I have looked over some pretty strong dyno graphs of some V6 taxis running front mounts and nasty pulley set ups with some solid power outputs for an old style single cam two valver… One of the key points of information we are acting on is that the 14,000 max RPM rating is for continuous operation, not the odd squirt now and then, realistically the duty cycle of the engine being above 5500 in normal driving conditions is probably less than 5% maybe even less on a daily driven car, might turn the data logging on for a week and see what it really is.
I have been told by a very reliable source that the YT have undergone long term testing for short time runs to just over 20,000 rpm with no ill effects, so if we have pulley ratio to give 14,000rpm at 5,500-6000, the normal shift point for fast road driving the odd squirt to 7000rpm will give about 18,000rpm, not enough to hurt it as long as it doesn’t sit there for long periods. Anyway just our take on it after all, not trying to break the HP records here, just to make a real strong and reliable streeter. It will be nice to think the power output will be consistent, it just runs too nice for the first WOT pull on a cold morning, will be great if it can run like that all day long.
Happy to be wrong, will have to bite the bullet and give Grant my new M112 to run if it doesn’t pan out. Anyway, we are grateful of everyone’s input and help and hope to have some results good or bad to post shortly.

Hi,
Picked up the scoop this evening. A $40 ebay special! Im really impressed with shape; it fits perfectly between the water sprayers and is the right length to cover the SC snout clearance at the front and also run right to the back of the bonnet. The shape mirrors the round nose of the soarer and the risges that run at angles down the length of the bonnet. Apologies for the dodgy pics:
The only bad news is the clutch started to fail on the way home from the sellers. Managed 3rd gear from Homebush to Blacktown and stalled it out the front of my home....ggggrrrrr.......I can feel a master/slave recondition coming on...

Quick update. The parts for the next stage continue to roll in. 6 x 440 injectors acquired. Another six still to find.
A set of LS1 coil packs arrived today as well. The MOTEC MLS can control the LS1 coils and at $150 dollars for the coils its a easy economic decision to make. (Half the price of a new set of leads, let alone distributors, etc etc!)

We are going to try his oversize ROSS TUFFBOND crank pulley to help get the drive ratio right up there without having to go too small on the pulley on the supercharger. On this application it will also overdrive the accessories as well which will cost a little power but I am sure there will be a net gain...

ROSS TUFFBOND
Not sure how much they charge for them but give them a call, speak to Ross or Ben and tell them that I posted the pics on the forum and I am sure they will look after you.
