I had a chat with Andrew at Kostecki Engine Center yesterday (WA). He said they would have the IM240 emissions test available in June (2007). He also stated he is arranging contacts on the engineering side. So theoretically we will be able to install our SC, drive it in to his shop, they do the emissions test and certify the install, then off we go to DPI for approval .... I await the day !

Hmm... originally it was going to be before christmas...then in Jan only 4 more weeks then in Feb still 4 more weeks and now in June....

I'll do it for you Gregg; My Mum's dog is the only accredited dog in Australia for sniffing people in rubble piles, im sure he can smell how toxic your supercharger makes your fumes.

Sorry we didn't get back to you earlier, but Daniel has since left the business, and I've taken over his position.
We have our new Dyno here, but we are waiting on the electrician to wire her up. Once that is done, then we are able to do the IM240 Emissions Test.

I spoke to the tech dept about this a few days ago.
They didn't tell me the name of the place that is doing it (could well have been Kostecki), but they said it should be available in around 4 weeks. |

G'day gents....first post here. I was looking at buying Gary's beast about a month ago and gave Kostecki's a bell about IM240.
They're doing them now for $1300 which is a bit less than the two or three grand Blaine was saying they were after a while back. I said at the time if we could get three or four to test at the same time would he do it for a grand per car and he said let's negotiate...
I ended up getting a non supercharged car from QLD..its all of two days away. Thought some of you others might want to go the legal route on your chargers. Might catch you up in a year or two ;) Cheers, Luke. |

If it already has an IM240 test done, and the car is already registered/engineered as a supercharged Soarer, then it should glide over Perths pits without any extra paperwork. (assuming you have the paperwork to prove the above). |

The seller is getting a mod plate done for me which is a necessity but im hoping we wont have to do this IM240 as well. |

You'll definitely need to do a IM240 test. I've been through that exact route and still can't sit down properly...
In the end it was easier to stock it back to a standard manifold etc to get it licensed....Joe Hollywood will do it but you'll need a standard manifold (pick one up from Jap parts in Maddington - He'll show you another greasy pole when it comes to the cost of his parts). |

Mod plate or not. You have to show them the documentation and results for the IM240 emissions test. If you don't get this from the previous seller then you will have to do the test here. |

If the test is for that car with that engine and that supercharger then you should be fine. |

I'm also not sure if the QLD mod plate will stand up in WA. It all depends what supporting paperwork it comes with. |

IM240 COMPLETE TEST DRIVE
and following the computer driving cycle at this time it samples the cars gas emissions during this test , for emission control certifications requirements or after a tune up , it can be used to assist in detecting and locating ignition, fuel, exhaust emission engine service problems. The Gases below are the following out puts.
( CO ) Carbon Monoxide readings usually indicate a fuel mixture problem .
( HC ) Hydrocarbon readings usually indicate excessive un burnt fuel caused by a lack of ignition or incomplete combustion.
( O2 ) Oxygen readings indicate too lean of a fuel mixture.
( CO2 ) Carbon dioxide readings indicate efficient combustion process or ideal combustion
( NOX ) Oxides of nitrogen the group of gasses usually indicates high ignition or high combustion temperatures, over advanced or even poor cooling system.
The test is five drive cycles with one report, Min charge is $400.00 set up Retail then $180 per hrs
The report is given with identification with OBD
and computers sealed for DPI inspections
