beautiful setup.

without seeing the dyno etc, a big increase in torque like that without the corresponding peak power figure sometimes means you might have reached the limits of something at the top end, e.g. head flow, exhaust flow, injectors, cats etc.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I am very happy with the outcome/progress of the car. Now it's time to get out and enjoy it for a while. :-)

As mentioned in my post, the first dyno figures were from when the car was still running a manual gearbox. After that, the car was converted to an automatic transmission but was not dyno tuned again until this last bunch of modifications were carried out, so I am unsure of what power losses there have been through transmission and convertor slippage with the auto.

G'day Chris,

Good to see your still making progress with your setup.

I believe that the lack of gain in power and gain in torque is representative of going from a manual to auto.

I would have expected about 16rwkw from the boost increase and then some for the intercooler, however I'd say the transmission is sucking that up but with a tradeoff in torque is still a good gain, hence noticeable.

The benefit is that the C4 is tough and will take the abuse, it will be the rest of the drive train now, a 9" diff next?

Your engine bay is excellent by the way, good job!

Thanks Nathan.

Yeh, same old story, these things are never finished, can always find something to modify or replace.

I completely agree with your comment. There has to be a power loss with the transmission/convertor as they are always slipping somewhat, therefore sucking some of the power up. And the torque gain is self explanatory with the addition of the torque convertor/multiplier.

But in my opinion it was a worthy trade off, the car is always in the powerband at the hit of the throttle and has livened the car up from the day it was converted over.

Haha, I'm sure the 9" will be somewhere down the line, but hopefully the hilux diff will be able to handle the abuse for the meantime. Time will tell I guess.

How has the Soarer been going for you anyways?

Hey Mate,

The Soarer is in bits at the moment with the suspension rebuild, should be good once it's done!

After that, I need to fit the 14psi pulley and the water/meth which should see close to 350rwkw and then I need to save the pennies for the bottom end rebuild.

It's very much a work in progress so I'm glad I have a couple of other cars, but it can cause me to not bother working on my car as there is no urgency.

That does tend to be a problem with having daily drivers doesn't it, it does give you more time to do more modifications to your toy/s, but does seem to take longer. At least those modifications should certainly give you something to look forward to.

I took the Hilux out to the local drag strip last night for a play too. Pre modifications, it managed a best time of 12.96 @ 106mph. Last night it managed to run a 12.04 @ 113mph, which I am quite pleased with and cant wait to get back out for another play now, haha.
