Since I dont really post up much and I am still hanging around. I am fitting a replacement motor into my car this weekend.
Since I had the engine fire Last year it has had nothing but inconsistent faults, would run fine and then play up. Manged to squeeze 311rwhp out of it though with the standard ECU and stock injectors. About July last year it was upgraded with bigger injectors, 460's I think Lew said and a Wolf V500 stand alone, and more boost, 15lbs was what we ended up with.
Electrical gremlins put their hand up and caused all sorts of grief, the guys at EFI sorted them and managed to get a tune into it.
Could not get as much timing into it because of pinging. Horsepower went down but torque went up, was done on a hub dyno as well and I am told the readings are usually a lot lower than when done on rollers, 302rwhp and 392 f/lbs of torque.
Anyhow got car home ran well for a couple of weeks, hey the gremlins are back, back down to the Gold Coast find a few things to sort, get the car back runs well for a while now its got starting issues we think that its fixed and I need the car back for my sons formal in Nov, its running nice with just a little bit of of a miss fire under boost, so I drive it easy.
The night of his formal I take him and his date and drop them off, coming home the thing starts breaking down runs like a bag of puss, get it home and the bloody thing wont start again.
A few phone calls to Lew and EFI and it decided the burnt loom must be causing something, so source a replacement loom and I Jan out comes the motor, fit the new loom and give everything a good clean, two days later its purring like a kitten. 2 weeks later its still running sweet, time to start pushing it a little bit harder, man its nice to drive responsive, feels quick, then my missus says to me one day whats that oil smell, nothing dont worry about it.
Smoke started to come from under the car the more I drove it, crap the rear main has gone, new one was fitted with the new gearbox, the supercharger is pressurizing the crankcase, there is oil every where under the car.
I brought what I am hoping is a reasonably low mileage motor and this weekend everything comes back out again and hopefully works well.
Doing all the work at a friends house, he messed with his Skyline while I did mine, no hurry got all weekend.

We cant get into the garage because the Skyline has no rear end in it at the moment.
Got a break in the weather and got half way through fitting the motor and back came the rain, so it just sitting in the engine bay and will have to wait till I can get back to it.

Was not going to do anything till the weekend but the weather was so good today I went and fitted the motor properly and got all the underside bolts done. Just the engine bay to do and pick up the radiator tomorrow, it was apparently 90% blocked and needed a new top tank, its a wonder it didnt boil its head off. If the weather is fine on Friday will finish everything off then.

All done and it is running sweet, just need to another top pulley made for the charger to drop the boost a bit then back to the tuners to finalize the tune.

Any idea what the cause of the pressure build up is? Whats to stop it happening again?
Havent heard from you in a while Tai, how is life with out your Soarer?
The problem was excessive blow by caused by weak compression rings in No5 cyl, will know some time later for sure when the heads eventually get pulled off the old motor. I also knew that No5 was low on compression.
Am looking at setting up a better breathing system, probably do away with the PCV.

Cool Paul, what kind of figures are you expecting?
No real idea yet Joe, for a number of reasons mainly elec gremlins and too much boost causing pinging, the timing couldnt be advanced as much and the tune isnt finished yet but it presently has 305HP at wheels and 392 ft.lbs of torque, this on a hub dyno which gives lower hp readings than a Dyno Dynamics one.
When the guys at EFI get their new dyno set up, I will take the car back with a 12lb pulley fitted and we will see what happens then.
