Which would you choose and why? I know it's different in type of supercharger between root and centrifugal.

Centrifugal seems to give better RwKw and you get the intercooler but the Roots is instant power and loads of torque and you can get a boost cooler set up to cool it.

down to what you're after i think. There are pros and cons for both.

Raptor most likely be cheaper, will make more power, but all the power will be in the top end.

HVT will make bucketloads of torque down low but will feel 'flat' as it goes up the revs.

Depends on how you want to drive it really.

I don't know much about the HTV charger but Raptor have a good reputation, I know someone who had dramas with one of their kits, they were friendly and dealt with the issue quick, ended up sending a replacement unit and a prepaid package to send the old one back for testing. Really looked after the guy and kept in touch every step of the way and even did follow up calls to ensure they were happy with the results.

Eaton TVS also badged as the harrop HTV are known to be the most reliable superchargers on the planet. OEM quality used in a number of OEM applications.

I am not aware of any issues with the Vortec or Raptor blowers but I doubt they will last 200,000km like the eaton.

Harrop developed the blower for the Trd aurion . They had numerous issues and was one of the reasons the trd was recalled.

You have to decide if you want instant torque or want something that will keep pulling till redline.

I wasn't aware of the TRD being recalled.

The TVS has proven themselves to be reliable for nearly two years now over in the states in OEM applications.

As far as I am aware Harrop helped develop the TVS for eaton exact relationship I'm not sure but it is sold as an Eaton TVS all around the world except Australia which they are branded Harrop.

Toyota was the first car manufacture to jump on board and use the TVS design. They have used the previous generation of roots blowers on other platforms in the passed.

Ford and GM are also using the TVS in the states just like they have done for years with the previous generations of Eaton blowers.

I haven't heard of any problems with them even with guys pushing the blower speeds well beyond factory boost levels.

HVT is a TVS? Hrm, really depends how you drive then, the TVS overcomes some of the problems a normal roots blower has, so will give good mid range as well.

An eaton TVS is used on the ZR1 to make 638hp from the factory, so they arent exactly hanging around.

What kind of driving experience to you want?

Mate, I think the HTV kit would be worth a look into. Not being bias, but approximately 300rwkw and 600 odd Nm of torque with 15psi would be very drivable street car, and would be sufficient enough to satisfy the inner hoon, and give a good old fright every now and then.

However the HTV running at 6psi would not require any ECU, fuel mods etc. The power increase would be very acceptable (significantly more than a M90), and would be quite reasonably priced with room for future upgrades.

Rich.
