Havent been around for a while so here is an update on the car. New cams and valve springs are in still havent tuned the car on the dyno. Anyway I ran it at WSID yesterday at a private meet. One street tyres it managed an 11.7 @ 120mph on the very first run of the day.
Ended up blowing a head gasket on the second pass so that was it for me. still in happy with the result. i think a low 11s pass is achievable with tuning and slick. Go Toyota
thanks for the comments. the car had a mild street tune so it wasnt completly out. I wouldnt run it totally untuned. its getting new head gaskets soon and then im back out there to see what she can really do. will keep you guys posted

eah, hehe, get it tuned before hand next time, lol . Saves blowing HG's ;)

I cant help but wonder why you didn't get tuned prior to running the quarter?
UMMM, hate to state the obvious, but it is more than possible to blow a HG with a perfect tune.
These motors are getting on a little. The 1uz's use stretch head bolts standard. It's fine stock, but some boost will lift heads. This is what happened to me. I think it's a little unfair to assume that the tune was not up to scratch. My tune was fine, just a bit too much boost and POP!
Gianni: PLEEEEEASE tell me that while the heads are off you are doing a better gasket and ARP bolts.
Anyway, well done. May I see you in the 10's soon?

High compression, added boost pressure and wrong tuning approach = high cylinder pressure & temperature = popped standard head gaskets & in many cases damaged pistons / rods.

the car should be making closer to the 330rwkws.
My head gasket blew at around 390rwkw through a manual with stock cams and valve springs. My tune was run on the dyno AFTER I re-assembled it and it was perfect, maybe a little rich.
Cihan, I was offering an alternate hypothesis based on my personal experience, so, roll you eyes if you will, but it was merely mentioned to reinforce my second point of upgrading gaskets and head bolts/studs. Geez, try to share experiences.... everyone knows the dangers of running untuned.
sorry ben but im out of that race. im rebuilding the engine turning the boost down as low as i can and then im giving the car to my younger brother. Its time for me to move on
this might sound stupid but im looking at a golf GTI. I own a volkswagen workshop so i thought it would be good for business if im driving a Volkswagen. who knows GTI + 1uzfe
