Hi all, well into my turbo project, have the turbo, turbo location mapped out, as welll as the fuel system installed.
Alloy fuel cell, alloy surge tank, Bosch 910 to lift fuel into surge tank.
Bosch 044 to feed fuel rail.
Is there a good bolt up rising fuel reg for the SC400?
Bought a Garret GT35/40 from an XR6 turbo, its an upgraded one, with bigger inlet housing and stuff, but suits 4.0L motor, so should do me fine on the V8.
I have moved my engine forward and done lots of body work to high mount this at the rear of the block above the gearbox.
I have the later model fuel rail on my engine (cast alloy)?? Is this better or worse than the early billet fuel rail?
Would you run either of the standard type fuel rails?? What injectors?
I wanna run around the 6-10psi range initially, so I guess I am up for a piggy back minimum or stand-alone ECU, with a stand alone can I still have the digital dash?
My big question is, can I get away without running the cometic gaskets and the ARP head studs? (at least initially) I dont care too much about the motor as its 250k+ so I am looking to put a new motor in down the track which is fully rebuilt.
1: Which fuel rail, early or late? 2: What fuel regulator? 3: What computer? 4: Can I leave the head bolts and gaskets stock?

dude, that's an unusual place for a turbo! can we have a photo perhaps? 6 psi , i would leave it standard, but 10 psi is getting up there with 10:1 compression. when you do the built motor, you can use steel head gaskets from the later v8, i think it's called a 2UZ. My mate has a twin turbo 1UZ drag supra, which is stock internally(bottom end). he enlarged the chambers in the heads to drop the compression ratio, used the aforementioned gaskets, used ARP head studs, and the rest is stock. the car runs at 18-20 psi and does 9.7 at 137mph. A Link ECU controls 2 mitsubishi VR4 ignitors which fire 8 falcon coils. I have a haltech E6X in the for sale section if it suits your needs. all the best. my bet is that you will have power EVERYWHERE with that turbo/motor combination

Hi Robert, the guys on http://www.v-eight.com/tech_forum/index.php? have a few more turbo eights, well worth a look. There are a couple of turbo Soarers around, Damien Smith, Adam Chynta ? and Peter Chriss come to mind. Most guys run the engine at 6-10 psi without decompressing, with an intercooler.

In answer to your question "Is there a good bolt up rising fuel reg for the SC400?"
I my humble opinion there is no such thing as a good rising rate reg! Everyone uses Malpassi 1.7 or 2.1:1 regs as bandaid solution to having too small injectors for their application. Vortech products are another option but again still the poormans solution to simply fitting the correct flow injectors.
Ask any real tuner who knows there stuff and they will tell you how unstable they are with temp changes.
Get the right injectors in the first place and stick with the factory 1:1 rising rate reg you already have. The only real need to change it is if you have a real big fuel pump(s)and your fuel pressure at idle is too high (ie the std reg cannot return the full fuel flow) or if you want to spend all the cash to make it look purdy...
