| Depends on how much you wanting to spend. If you have lots of cash, a screw supercharger for sure. Peter Taplin I recall made up an impressive kit with on a worked 1UZ boasting the usual N/A spec modifications, along with ECU work, makes almost 300rwkw! $11,000 worth. Theres a post about it somewhere. Otherwise for cost effectiveness and a decent boost in power/torque without emptying the bank the option are roots superchargers. The Eaton M112 or M90 in particular found of a range of GM cars. The M90 is probably the most cost effective way to go, anywhere from $3500-7500 for one of those setups complete. The M90s are best run between 5-7psi. After around 7-8 psi you need to run an intercooler as they really bring up the air temperature. Your okay with about 6 or so PSI but you will usually need to do a few fuel tweaks (rising rate fuel reg etc) to get the most out of the stock fuel system. Fortunately you can use the stock ECU, it will adjust but it's more than suggested to get a piggy back ECU to get the most out of the supercharger kit. But for the money stand alone system are not that much more expensive with much bigger advantages and results You will find results will vary a lot, from how good the superchargers compressability/condition is, how well the rest of the supercharger setup is sealed, general health of the engine and what other modifications have been done. Some setups with full exhausts, Uni-chip piggy back tunes get around 170-200rwkw at 5-6psi, however if the setup up is really efficient then over 200rwkw is achievable, usually you would hope for about 205-220rwkw+ form a good setup with a stand alone ECU. The results will vary dyno to dyno, as well as things like the ambient temperature so don't take dyno readings as concrete for how a setup could perform on your car. Hope that helps, a bit of a rave. |

| that does help abit mike, although i wasn't expecting it to cost that much. i did some looking on ebay, and found an electric turbo, and it only costs 35 plus delivery. is this a gimmic, or something a broke cheapskate like me could try?? |

Yeah, they are pricey. The supercharger alone (M90) can be bought for little money, 500-1000 in varied condition, maybe needing rebuilds for around $100 (new seals, oil, bearings etc). But putting it on the car and getting it running is where the other few thousand comes from, lots of small parts needed. Screw superchargers start in the thousands and are very sought after.

HAHAHA! The only advantage of those will be for the seller making a few bucks on something completely useless. They don't and will never work.

Justin ran 22psi into his stock 1uz in a celica that produced over 400rwkw. 22psi is beyond long term reliability which is probably about 15psi. |

| A quick question Damian, I read elsewhere you ran a water injection setup on a previous M90 setup, did you find that feasible? |

| Hahah, it's a little turbine blade that sits in your intake piping near your throttle body, don't laugh yet, does make a difference and I am hard to impress haha, with a nice breeze it whines too! |

It is fantastic, I tried to avoid using it at first which in hindsight was a mistake. From my experiences I wouldn't use a positive displacement supercharge without it. Quite a few people in the US are now starting to use it with NA motors as well, running 14.5:1 comps producing really good HP figures. |

| Electric intake add ons are are most definitely snake oil. All it'll do is put a bit more stress on your electrics (and by association burn a little more fuel) |

| they actually restrict airflow. A computer fan can't push as much air as your engine sucks in at idle. So under load you can lose power. AVOID. |

| I have a complete Whipple set up less the manifold , only done 800 K's ,2.3L Whipple , rear plenum , cleaned and tested 440cc injectors , fuel lines , bypass valve , Blower drive snout , 2 top pulleys , one 12psi and other 16psi , belt ,high speed idler bearing ,fittings , fuel reg . More or less everything you need and all the work is done , just need a manifold from Bullet or Andrew Ridgewood .This was on my UZZ32 . You would need to change the drive to a 40mm shorter unit if its going on a UZZ30/31 or get yourself a 32 bottom pulley and run a belt just for the blower . |
