Hey guys,

Yet another problem, My car leans out really easily, like rev it and it leans.....no joke.

I have a new fuel pump (bosch 040) changed the fuel filter, got injectors cleaned. no go.

It doesn't even have to be under load. If you work the rpm up slowly it's fine, but if you stab it it'll go straight into lean.

Tune hasn't been changed. sent a log and the tune to a car tuner and he said it all looks fine. what am i missing?!

When you say running lean is it that you can hear detonation (pinging) when you stab it ? . What injectors are you running and how much Boost do you have , how much better are the heads flowing after Barbo did the work on them . First thing I would do it see what fuel pressure you have through the rev range .Have you had it on a dyno with this problem to see what the A/F ratio is and how much timing is in it . Are you still running the AFM , it may be playing up .

If the heads are working a lot better from the old stock heads you will end up with better air flow and in doing so you end up with less boost , to make up for that you would go to a smaller top pulley and push it boost back to say 5 or 6 PSI BUT you also end up running the blower faster and it becomes less efficient , heats the air and that when you start having detonation problems .

Just throwing a few things at you , hard to say when can't see or head the problem . May not help but look at fuel pressure I think and boost you are running .

full dyno tuned. running 440 injectors. 8psi. had it pressure tested and flow tested not too long ago. may have to again. running a 3 bar map sensor no AFM. Was running beautiful and after going for a 6hour drive it started playing up. been running this set up for like 6 months at least now....

I think you need to find out what the A/F ratio is and fuel pressure . Are you running 8.5:1 pistons ? with that set up 8 psi shouldn't be a problem , I had 10psi but with the 2.3lt whipple and it would just start to ping at about 6000 , this was with a stock ecu .

stock compression. when i try to give some throttle is goes to 15.5/1 AFR. so yeah pretty lean. new pump, new filter, injectors been taken out and cleaned. whats left in the fuel delivery system? could a pressure reg be failing?! very very frustrating. tuned been looked over and that side is fine. something mechanical seems to be stuffed

If you know that pump is good and everything to the engine is fine I would get a reg and try it , are you running a raising rate reg also .Wow thats getting up there with the AFR

.At what RPM is it pinging .

You should start a new thread Darren.

Probably include more info about the motor and if it has been modified and how you know it's going lean.

Code 24 might be okay if it's got a piggy back - the AFM has the air temp sensor in it so if it's now running a MAP then it might have been disconnected.

Matt.

well when mine started leaning out it was my fuel pump giving up. have you checked pressure and flow?

dead o2 sensors

dying cats

temp sensor

map pressure line leaking in-between manifold to map sensor

target afr tuning on the piggyback and or tuning under load / boost.

dodgy wiring on the piggyback not soldered but crimped giving a false reading
