Hi all. Just thought I would let you all know whats happened with my baby.
I have a soarer with 1uz and eaton m90 blower. All seemed great. The blower was installed around 2002. I just had to have it pulled down and freshened up. We got the blower off and found heaps of oily metal flecks and gritty mess in there. The carbon had worn off the rotors, and the housing and rotors were damaged from contacting. We looked further and discovered the intake manifold had been 'custom' made by an agricultural welder with no brain. The manifold had been slapped together in a disgusting way, with spatter everywhere and welds that looked like 2year old had done. After this embarrasment we discovered it didn't sit true so the inlet/outlets were not sealed flush and the pulley was out of line with the engine pulleys, causing everything inside to run out of true, and inlet/outlet leaks of air n oil.... So now it's a new blower and intake manifold.
My beast came from the sunshine coast, is pale metallic green and was known as the GHET70(ghetto) soarer. If this was once yours and you installed this blower, then you should never be allowed near a vehicle again!! The person that done this installation cut so many corners and dodged up many things, yet It passed an engineers inspection.
If anyone out there is considering making a manifold to save coin....don't. Spend th $1275 and have a proper manifold, with no welds and proper flow, properly designed and built for this purpose! And this is just 'another' example of the 'molestation' that has occured to my car....the list goes on!

there are some good home made manifolds out there Bernie, looks like you lucked out and got a dodgy bros one.

I have a cast one, only way to go. Been on the car for over 5 years now, no issues at all.

There may be some good home jobs, but cast is the only way to go! Sadly the engineer couldn't have known unless they pulled it apart.
Anyway, now I have done the hi pressure fuel system to suit the blower,along with many other things that should have been done at time of installation, The new blower, manifold and fuel pump should have me smiling!! I will try and post pics of the manifold for you all to laugh at....be warned....one of you will recognise it!!
