Hey guys, I have just brought a M90 charger and I am wanting to do a cheap bolt on type upgrade for some more power. I don't want to be told get this type of charger or get that, I have an M90 so I am going to work with it.

Now, I have some lime green 7M injectors sitting around somewhere in the garage, already have installed are some rush extractors with a 2.5" dual exhaust, R154 manual conversion and a factory ECU also yet to install an Apexi RSM.

I have heard that the factory ECU will run with 5psi of boost so to keep costs down I am looking at running only 5 psi for now until I do step up to an aftermarket ECU.

As the title states, what else besides a manifold kit and belt etc do I need to run the M90 to keep things from going bang in a bad way? Some part numbers would be very helpful too please.

I have just bolted one on my car with the 7mge 315cc (limegreen) injectors and have been running it on standard ecu. Main issue i have is erratic idle. The belt you will need would depend on your pulley sizes. Once you have everything installed run a piece of string around your pulleys and then measure it. This measurement in millimeters will tell the guys at ya local auto spares place what size 6pk belt you will need. Bullet and a few others supply manifolds, the most expensive part of the whole thing... Just google 1uz m90 manifold

Just so you guys know I have brought the M90 off Andrew.

There is a crowd here in NZ that do a manifold kit for a M90/112 to 1UZ so I will probably go with that for ease of shipping costs and waiting time.

Can you elaborate on what mods you have done, have you changed your fuel pump or anything else? When you say the idle is erratic, what would be the cause there and how bad is it? I am only looking at about 5psi as I don't want anything going "pop" straight away, kind of want it as reliable as I can get it. How much psi are you running yours on Dave?

The other thing is I would still like to keep the air con, would I be expecting too much?

I bought an older setup that has been on Kim Hunts and Lynden Phillips cars. I had already put a Walbro 255 fuel pump in also had a shift kit, 2800 stall and big extractors. I am yet to fit a boost gauge but with the size of pulley i have i roughly guess its somewhere around 10psi.

With my setup the only change that had to be made was the front water bridge was angled to clear the belt, the bolt on the thermo housing had to be filed flat to clear the blower drive shaft and i had to use a flexible front crossover fuel line between the fuel rails. I think the idle issue is due to the slightly larger injectors and the standard ecu.

I have a Wolf V500 that will be tuned next monday but the car runs like a bucket with it un-tuned so i have re-installed the standard ecu at the moment and it actually runs better, guess it due to an ecu reset...
My main objective was that everything had to work as if factory so i still have cruise control and a/c.. You can see my setup in the previous thread "show your intercooler setup"

I know people knock the M90 but so far i am impressed. The power so far has transformed the feel of the car and the power coming on is there from the start unlike waiting for a turbo to come on boost. Next on my todo list may be some larger rear tires

The other question is, do I still need to run the air flow meter? I would like to run the factory throttle body as I want to keep the TRC, will I have any issues there?

Dave, which fuel pump did you use the GSS341 or GSS342 as there are two variants of a Walbro 255?

AFM will depend on what ecu you use, with the standard ecu you will need it. I have the Wolf which has inbuilt MAF so the AFM is going in the bin with just a 3" intake pipe to my airbox. I also retained factory TB so i could keep my cruise control as standard.

As a side note: I went out and bought a really nice rising rate fuel pressure regulator after trolling through many posts here about fuel pressure and getting the impression that a RRFPR was a requirement. My tuner has since told me that i DO NOT need to install it unless running ridiculous amounts of boost. So i will be able to tell you next week for sure if it needs to be installed or not. Could be a bit of a hip pocket saving for you...

Just checked. I actually kept the packet... GSS342K written on it. It is an in-tank type, very easy to fit. There was a tutorial on here for it somewhere...

Sweet, payday this Thursday with some 132.5 hours this past 2 weeks means I might splash out and get one. Do you know if it would work as a straight swap for now without the supercharger?

Yeah mate, i put mine in months ago before any other mods, no problems. Not sure if it was my imagination but it seemed to rev and go harder, or my old pump may have been on its way out??? Just keep your fuel above 10 liters, because they make a horrible loud whirring sound if you are running low...
