...ohh and even with the soft Nitto Invo 275's on the back with the T2 diff the trac light flashes all the way though first gear and well into second :-) i'll get video in the next couple of weeks!

Feels like a lot more power on the road due to the instant torque :-)

Allan, can you PM me some rough costs and more info? I have been thinking about a charger this year on mine. An M90 or M112.
I know bullet do kits, but i'm not overly keen on spending 6k on a HTV1900.

You will spend the same on a 'M' series blower, just you will have less efficiency and power.

Don't bother with old tech roots blowers. Twin screw or HTV are the only way to go.

Dan - the M112 kit is actually very cheap and will provide maybe 60% of the performance for 30% of the price of the HTV kits.

AFAIK, the Twin Screw Whipple 2.4L Kit Taplin is selling is around 11k, so you're spending about 1/3 of the money for quite a reasonable return.

Of course, the twin screw compressors (and even the HTV series) are preferable due to their obvious efficiency advantage over the M112 etc. But the question is, how much do you want to spend? What is your target?

The M112 kits are far cheaper because:

They utilize the Eaton M112. This blower is very cheap as it is utilized in the SVT Mustangs in America. The Mustang guys wanting more power ditch the M112 and go for the Whipple, meaning there is a good supply of the M112 blowers. The compressor can be brought in for 400 to 500 dollars from the US.

LP1 also modifies the stock intake manifold, fuel rails, water bridge etc. for a good price, so you're looking at great bang for your buck.

Of course, if you want to custom fab your own kit, that's another question altogether, but I am comparing commercially available kits.

Bullet cars kits are circa 5.5K for m90 and 6.5k for HTV.

For 1k extra I'd go the HTV.

If you're working on the cheap then it's a different story, but as always you get what you pay for.

I'm about to finally start fitting my m112 and I'm looking at buying the bullet kit, anyone had experience with the ford cobra m112 budget kit?

I'm also utilising the double width intake plenum from the cobra, but that's another story..

i'd probably buy the bare bullet manifold, get a custom plate cut out and front water bridge modified rather than the custom snout road that bullet have taken, more stuffing around but more OEM look to it all and probably cheaper

So you would you recommend the bullet path instead of this Canadian fella Allan?? Ive just done a load of reading up on this thanks to your link as i thought it wasnt possible to get the M112 under the bonnet of the Soarer.. You had said it cost you around 3K but the fella seems to quote $900 Canadian for his manifold kit.. I may have that wrong and have that arse about backwards and would encourage you to set me straight if thats the case.. These M112 blowers are as cheap as chips and i reckon i will get board of my M90 once my manual conversion is finished and i can sell that setup to help fund the upgrade to M112.. The M112 should push more than 10psi right??

Gavin,

don't forget besides the blower... shipping, core lower manifold, bigger injectors, preferably an ECU, Idlers, belts, gaskets, sealant, new oil for blower, new quickchange pulley for blower... etc etc it adds up QUICKLY! mine cost well over $3000 if I include everything.

the bullet manifold will be more expensive over Chucks one, It will be a nicer fit as anything fabricated does suffer from warping, nothing that can't be worked around with Chucks offering just be prepared to deal with these issues.

Thanks Allan..Its not something im doing straight away as other parts of the car are receiving attention at the moment.. Im just trying to get some facts straight so i can choose a path before I get bored of the M90 after the manual conversion. I do already have bigger RX7 injectors and an Adaptronic ECU so some of the cost is taken care of.. I do know that bullet charge like a wounded bull for their gear though =( Does there kit for the M112 keep it under the bonnet??

not sure on the bullet M112 "kit"

if you go Chucks kit get him to put the hole in under the blower outlet for the Delco AIT sensor (make sure you inject epoxy down the sensor to support the legs of the thermistor and trim the top of the "cage" off as the sensor was not designed to be installed after a blower)

That's what I suggested to my mate doing the job.. I seemed to remember the blue hurricane headers I saw online were pretty long after the merge and wondered if that could be a solution.. Thanks for putting my mind at ease Allan. Looks like a full exhaust upgrade is next on the list =}

Is the hurricane set the only one available off the shelf considering rush headers don't seem to be available now.. That's a shame because they had a slightly more open version from memory.. I want something more breathable than something designed for an NA 1UZ

much of a muchness on a forced induction motor, as long as they are not restrictive...

I would make sure you get them ceramic coated inside and out.

Just remember , a better flowing exhaust with a supercharger will result in a lower boost pressure in the manifold being produced .

Pretty dissapointed and somewhat confused to hear the extractors/headers didnt improve anything being that the stock headers seem terribly restrictive.. My car came with the system it has.. I have stock headers to gutted cats to 3" pipes to centre muffler to 3" pipes to sports mufflers.. Probably a little overkill with the 3" twin system and a bit loud but after a bit of experience with turbo 1J's i thought you can never really go to big when it comes to boosted engines wanting to breathe..

I thought if the boost levels are reduced by letting it flow better the need to decompress is alleviated allowing more boost to be apllied without overstressing the engine.. Not a huge issue with the 1J as its a factory turbo but the 1UZ being factory NA the compression levels are not as well suited to take the boost pressure..

It feels a little more responsive but still got high intake temps.
