My newly supercharged v8 caught fire today after the return fuel line came off, had an OEM spring clip on it but still came off.
Gone away on an NRMA tilttray, hoping it is not a write off

So sorry to hear that John, great disappointment after your excitement on putting the supercharger on.
Was it the line on the back of the supercharger that bridges across, that is normally a solid steel line?}

If it is a write off, could you have first option to buy it back as a wreck. Worth the ask before wheels start turning.

Probably panicked a bit yesterday, RHF air bag has sagged , but likely just airline burnt through, the fire was under intake and Maf so easy replacement , some injector loom burnt, paint on RHF mudguard burnt , all this plus what I couldn't see, maybe I should have kept insurance out of it

How badly was it burnt? If the whole car didn't catch fire, you could certainly salvage parts from it!

Oh man that's terrible.

Always a fear of mine. I keep a big extinguisher in my car for such reasons

NRMA assessor looked at it today and decided that it's repairable, he said mostly superficial damage,it has some burnt loom , he said they will splice a new piece in, there is a plastic hose burnt which will explain the airbag plus clear coat burnt off mudguard.
I had an extinguisher Mike, but was not big enough

I'm glad it's repairable John, what size extinguisher did you have? Did it completely put out the fire or was it still smoldering? I have a 1kg mounted in the footwell behind the drivers seat for quick access when I fitted my supercharger but now I'm thinking of upping the size!

Mine was 1kg,but they're too small when a fuel fire is in the valley area, I'm getting a 2 kg to replace it

What ignited the fuel? Over the years I've had that many fuel leaks and never and a single fire. Must have been a lot of fuel leaking?

Not 100% sure but the return line fitting on the regulator points toward the back of the engine so I assume exhaust.

Sh!t that's not good news John! Luckily it's being repaired though. I'm planning to put an m90 on one day myself.
I guess it's a good idea to invest in a fire extinguisher to sit in the cabin or boot...

Who fitted your system?

It always suprises me the number of persons who don't bother looking back over past or current threads , sometimes on the same visable web page.
