hi folks, collected my car after returning from a 2 week holiday and noticed the power steering was louder than before, thinking back, its always been fairly audible. it got even louder today so i checked the fluid(i had foolishly presumed the car would have a low level sensor as it does for everything else) and sure enough fluid was only showing on the end 5mm of the dipstick so about 50mm too low! topped up with dextron and turned the wheel lock to lock to bleed but its made little or no difference to the noise level. the pump has alledgadly been rebuilt by a previous owner and it doesnt appear to be leaking although its certainly damp around the base of the pump,i will monitor the level and see if it drops, servicing the pump looks fairly straight forward but i just want to make sure that this will cure the problem.. i have made a recording of the noise but am struggling to upload it at the mo,its a loud whirring noise only when you turn the wheel.
