My car starts with no problems every time, except when it's been parked at work all day, in which case it takes a few seconds of turning over before starting.
At work it's parked in the fifth basement level below ground, so the only reason I can think of is that the air down there is perhaps not quite right.
Is this lunacy or is there a genuine reason why the slow starting might be the case? It didn't happen a few months ago so is it a symptom of something else? I put in a new battery but it hasn't changed things. My mechanic has checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong, but I've not been able to recreate the problem elsewhere.

possibly the starter motor? when they are on their way out they dont start very well while hot. Temperature may not be dissipating due to it being under ground but if your car is parked there all day then i dont see what the problem could be. have you parked it outside or on an upper level for the same period of time and seen what happens?

It's parked outside all night and starts fine each morning. It's just when it's left underground for ten hours that it is slow catching. It must be cold in both circumstances and even after four days untouched over the weekend it started first thing this morning. I've realised that the only difference between my daytime and overnight parking is that i REVERSE in to my spot at work. Could it be harder to start when it's just been in reverse gear? I've tried going right back into the space and then driving forward a metre or so but it's still slow to start, hence me thinking that it's something to do with being underground.
