below is taken from toyota site:
Jason that information will almost certainly be referring to the JZA70 Supra which was sold locally and not the JZA80 which is what is most relevant to us. "For vehicles manufactured or imported by Toyota Australia"
Vehicle manufacturers and importers have provided the following information on the capability of their vehicles to operate on ethanol fuel blends up to a maximum of 10% or E10. Subject to the fuel meeting the octane requirements of the vehicle and complying with relevant mandatory Australian fuel quality standards.
Lexus Pre May 2002 IS200/300 vehicles do not operate satisfactorily on E10.
All other petrol engine vehicles since 1989 will operate satisfactorily on E10.
So according to the VACC it seems at least V8 Soarers should be able to safely use Ethanol Blends

Last week I used V-Racing (100RON and 5% ethanol, old Optimax Extreme), and this week I'm using V-Power (98 RON, old Optimax), and I reckon that the V-Power runs better. My engine seemed to run better still on BP Ultimate. Just an observation, no testing to backup my theory.

I have been using Optimax extreme in my 1jz rona for a while now. It is tuned for that though, not 98 octane so no comparisons. I only ever use 100 octane + octane booster when racing.
TUned for 17psi with about 22deg timing there was no pinging whatsoever.
I do agree that it is expensive though. With ethanol in it, it should be cheaper than non ethanol fuels even though it is higher octane.

I could never figure that out? kind of defeats the purpose, but a couple of extra points.
there seems to be a consensus that BP ultimate is the go, and shell is no go, a run of complaints and anecdotal reports of the later screwing things up in the performance department.
Interesting is BP ultimate is actually a 100-101 octane fuel, guaranteed to be of atleast 98 octane when at the bowser. dont let it sit in your car for to long either over 3 weeks isn't good idea, so if shes a weekend driver maybe half fill, just a thought.

Rob, Don't have Liberty up here but I was at a small station that had Plus ULP for 2c cheaper than ULP. He said it was 10% ethanol and 95 octane. Probably not a good idea for soarers but I think it is a good idea for locally delivered cars.

mt TT is not tuned to run with ethanol.. when it becomes readily available at all stations and is priced fairly, i may look at retuning the car.. but for now, 98ron for me.
