Any ideas where it is leaking from?? I can see it is coming from the back of the box. How can it be fixed?? I am thinking of removing the whole steering rack and getting it serviced. How easy is that to do?? I have the info on bush replacement, but how easy is it to remove the ball joints??? any other things to know etc. any suggestion please, need to get the car back on the road asap.

It's not that hard to remove the rack but you will need a pit, or at the very least car stands. You must completely remove the bolt that locks up the rack spline joint to the steering arm (either end but top closest to brake booster is probably easier) to remove otherwise arm will not come off the spline. Ball joints can be removed with puller. I did mine recently, removed it myself and had it overhauled, cost was $480 including end swivel arms (that connect to ball joints)

Just thought I would add if you have never done anything like this before (mechanical work) it's probably not a good first up project.

Thank Craig, I've had lots of experience pulling motors down etc, but not front end work. Will give it a go and see how the costs pans out.
