After you have compressed it and place the allen key in, bolted the tensioner on how do you get the allen key out given the amount of pressure we need to compress the tensioner, or should we forget the allen key idea and bolt tensioner on with the shaft extended

You can easily pull the allen key out after you install the tensioner. If its tight use some pliers to pull it out. I don't think you could install the tensioner while its extended.

if u tighten up those 2 bolts bit by bit, u know, half turn on this one and then half turn on the other, it will be fine. Just dont do up 1 bolt until it's tight then do the other... I have done it that way on my last 2 TT's, it is fine, just take ur time. It's easier than the allen key idea.

I've done it like that a couple of times. But this was before I knew what it was. Motors had a hard life since I did it, so its obviously not caused any damage... yet...
