Not sure if it's even possible, but when the car gets hot, the rear view blackens over, is there any way of preventing this, or is it something we just live with???

Have you got the LCD rear view mirror?

This is a common problem and this had happened to me once when it was over 37C.

But after around 10mins drive with the air-con on, it will get back to normal.

Yeah mine does the same thing on a hot day, left hand corner is dark whilst the rest is light. Couple of minutes and its fine. Most lcd's go a bit funny when hot. I wondered what the mirror was made outta :-)

I love the first post :p

Yeah, it was just a wonder if others also did it, I know it's LCD powered, and it's common for LCD stuff to do funky things in extreme temperatures.

I used to have a digital thermo that would blacken up at 50 degrees, but funny enough, it was meant to read to 65 degrees, who knows when the screen goes at 50 degrees (who cares at that sort of temperature anyway).

Thanks for the responces, I will ignore the mirror darkening, or maybe just tint it perminantly.
