OK, I read Peter’s great info ‘bout getting more air to the manifold and looked at the work necessary to accomplish that. Being a tad lazy and not wanting to pull my car apart, I opted for a slight variation.

I considered all I needed was little more 'clean fresh air' during acceleration so I came up with the idea of opening the top of the air filer chamber. This gave me the extra air I needed but got it from the engine bay which means that it was not cool air. It also made the usual V8 sucking sound like when vacuum secondaries open up, but that only attracted stares from people like the Police and other horrified persons. Back to the drawing board.

I came up with this, a vacuum cleaner hose and it works a treat by giving that extra O2 and, because it draws air from behind the front cowling, I get only cool, fresh air.

Picture 1. Using a hole saw, cut an appropriate size hole so the hopes fits snug.
Picture 2. Insert the hose.
Picture 3. Pull through and next to the headlight.
Picture 4. When bonnet is closed, the rubber seal isolates the intake side of the hose from the engine bay – Bingo, only cool air.

The wire retainers are easily made. Using a length of tie wire, wrap it around the vacuum hose, insert both ends into a drill, and tighten the chuck. Wind the wire up with the drill, cut to desired length, and secure the ends to the hinges of the filter chamber. This holds the vacuum hose snugly in place and makes fro easy removal in needed.

Appreciate the comments, I'll get some Sicaflex but first, I would imagine it sticks well but does it remain flexible for minor movement and vibration?
