ok guys ive been searching but havent found what am looking for

i got a 3ltr, am guessing we all have the same exhaust setup, so what is what and can you explain some of the terminology

flang, y this, x pipe, how many cats do we have, how many resonators...blah blah

so ill start off with two rear mufflers, then there are a resonator behind each one them, which they go to what? thats where i get lost. As you can see am not really a mechanical person.

once this is clarified i got a few more questions

thanks guys

From what I recall of my car, its a very crappy looking 3-2-1 header, then single pipe all the way down the car with what I assume is the (single) cat, back to a (assumed) large rear muffler with splits out to the two final rear mufflers and tips. But thats just from a visual, and from memory too, which could be faulty. Don can probably give you a diagram.

Ah, my memory was off, more complicated than I thought. Hmm, the 9709- extractor really doesn't look a hell of a lot better than the silly 3-1 manifold in the -9709 like my car has.

Hi Piers. No I didn't know that, but I get the exact same effect if I "Right click" the mouse

Thank you Don, appreciate it.
Looked under the car and it all made sense.

Headers, two cats, two resonators, two mufflers and finally the tips

I am going for a chrome and black theme happening on my car. decided to get nice chrome tips, then decided on going for chrome muffler.

I heard nothing but good thing on Maganflow mufflers, gives you a nice growl, but I dont see spending that much for sound, might as well stic with some nice tips .

So then I was thinking what happens if I just took out the resonators, will this sound clagy or make it sound mean? Keepng in mind the rest of the exhaust system is stock

By the way I have a n/a 3.0 ltr so keep that in mind

Kanchana my exhaust guy tried not putting resonators in my new system, thought i would get alittle more power, it drove me crazy almost made me sick from the noise, the next day i was back there to get resonators put in!
