| After seeing the price of LSD's for the Soarer, it would seem reasonable to assume that there were quite few bought with an LSD from new, is this the case? Whats the setup? Any way of telling by chassis code / engine combo / trim level etc? (car is not running yet). JZZ30 Auto 1JZ in my case. |

I would not assume that, as many Soarers that have LSDs now didnt have them when first bought in Japan... Aftermarket units and ones from donor Supra's (or Aristo's) would account for a lot |

Far out just answer the question for him or guide the poor bloke to where he can find a answer. Anyway check if it has A02B on your engine plate. If it does your sweet as, factory LSD fitted |

| He has 37 posts up and has been around for three months so I expect a little more from him, Steven. We told him where to find the answer. Edit: I searched first for "code lsd" based on the words in Paul's own initial post. The third thread in the results was this one. Threads 1, 2 and 4 in the results all gave the correct answer, which seems good enough do you not think? |

| David - my deepest apologies for not using CODE in my search for LSD info. I will endeavour to improve my search syntax usage, please forgive me. |

| Paul, I used code because it was one of your words so it seemed likely you would use it. I have found the appropriate information using other search words in the past for other people and take it that both your searching technique and your search attitude indeed need improvement. I have no particular reason to forgive you on this and do not waste time doing so. cheers |

| Cop it sweet and move on (Your comment is antagonistic) I'm sure David and many of the other members have answered the same questions many times in various threads. Just smile and nod, think nothing more of it |

| Talk about crying over spilt milk, holy crap, someone must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed yesterday.... You should be setting a example as a long term member and not writing comments like your first post, because in all seriousness, how the hell does that help anyone else??? Pretty pointless really.... Post up the links that you got from your search, tell him what you done and leave it at that... Not everyone knows how to use this site as good as you do, so teach new members... |

| Steven, before you get too worked up about it you could compare my response here with those to three other newbies within about the last month. All of them received more relaxed treatment but then, they had about four or five posts between the lot of them not 37 and three months hanging around here. Yes, I do try to teach searching, frequently, and did so again. I view teaching as explaining how to find the answer rather than handing it over, and I am not alone among experienced users in taking this approach. That is one reason I will rarely give the answer to the most common questions (not many) except to a real newbie or to someone who evidently has tried the wrong keywords. For example, recently someone was after brake information but had searched on "rotor" rather than 'disc". Further, my first responses were perfectly fair. It was only after his later reply that I lost interest in his further fortunes. Searching is part of the package, with no SMS-speak (now highlighted in red below) and never, under any circumstances asking how much some random person gets out of their fuel tank by driving in random directions at random speeds |

| Yeah I see your point, which is fair enough, I'm not going to argue with that But I still really do not see the point of just posting already answered often, search is a good answer too. OK he may be a member for 3 months and only have 37 posts, so he should know how to do it by now, but 12 posts a month isn't that much, so he is still considered a newbie really, otherwise he would have searched and never posted in the first place.... Anyway, I will leave it at that |

| So... what you are saying is that there is a plate that tells me if I have LSD in my diff...?? Where would I find that? What's on it? Who put it there? Why? |

| Adam, Yes the manufacturer's plate. It will be the same plate that says what Trim is on your car. It is normally silver in colour and is found on the driver's side of the engine bay. It will list something like TRANS / AXLE and then numbers after it. On a different subject, what is the difference between A01 and A02? Obviously the A & B at the end of these (i.e. A01B or A01A) determines that one is a LSD (A..B) and open diff (A..A). However what is the difference between A01. & A02.? Is A01 V8 and A02 TT? Is it a different "version" of the diff? |

| Adam Now I have no idea if you are having a lend of me or not Let me rashly assume you are serious, then even if I have been sent up at least we can settle a lot of things in this thread. The plate in your engine bay which has your VIN will also have after "Trans/Axle" one of the following codes: A01A A01B A02A A02B The "B" means it was fitted with a Torsen LSD from the factory. This is rare in V8s. It also happens that people fit them after getting their car, so the "wrong" plate does not prove you lack an LSD. The "1" and "2" refers to the final drive ratio. TTs (2) have a shorter ratio than V8s (1). I do not remember the exact ratios and do not propose to search for them now myself as I have to go out shortly. I hope everyone is now quite amazingly happy. |

But he also has 37 posts, still definately a newbie.... But then again You have 2151 making you a Goo Roo, so does it actually make you a Goo Roo, who really knows, possibly half your posts could just be useless sh1t really, which makes you out to be a Goo Roo but you are really not one... Bottom line is because its just a figure of speech really |
