Toyota Type-IV IS the correct fluid for a std V8 A341E transmission.

Either Type-IV OR Dexron III IS correct for a shift kitted A341E transmission.

Sorry, misread the specs. I read it as a turbo.

Only use Toyota Type IV if it's a stock V8.

Last night I spoke to a guy at Ford, he said that he spoke directly to the local Toyota dealership and they said to use Dex III, however I asked to have Type IV, they've ordered it and hopefully I'll get the car back tomorrow.

The exhaust leak they said was caused by them replacing the cat convertors, which was obviously a part of compliance, the gaskets didn't seal properly, they haven't located the exact leak as of yet. I'll keep you all posted.

Most Toyota service departments have it on display, at least the ones I have been to.

Hey,

Thanks Don, I ended up buying 16L of the stuff and Ford put my car on a transmission flush, spared 4L of the stuff so I'll just keep it spare..

The ticking sound was indeed the exhaust leak, between one of the cats and the pipe that leads to the resonator, Ford made some custom gaskets from exhaust gasket paper and we're all fine now.

Ford fixed this for no charge because when they replaced my cats for compliance the gaskets were replaced and didn't seal properly, so that was good.

However I have noticed my 'clunk' (which I think is my rear bushes) is getting worse since my car has been up on the car-lift in Ford..

Nevermind! But thanks for all your help guys.
