Just wondering has anyone changed the fan belt by themselves before? Mines cracking.

It looks very accessible so I thought i would have a shot at it. Any advice would be helpful.

Yes its easy I have done it without removing anything. just pull up on radiator top hose to get a socket (preferably long handle) on the tensioner and lever it to remove the tension on the belt, the rest is straight forward remove and refit new belt and you only need to lever at the last moment of fitting the new belt.

Just make sure you take note of which way it all routes around the pulleys :-)

Yeah, done it a few times now. Should take you no more than 10 minutes.

There is a picture on the inside of the bonnet of how the belt goes around the pulleys.

If its not of your car. Google 1JZ fan belt and something will come up.

Look under the inside of your bonnet, you should find a little picture of how it fits over all the pullies. If not, draw a picture of the old one before you take it off.

Nah, I have 2 1JZGTE engines.

One is going into a VN commodore and the other is in my Soarer.

Ive removed the replaced both belts only once, but Ive also removed and replaced with the same belt a few times.

AHhh rite O Shaun, wellz, it just so happens that the fan belt was done by the mechanic today. Charged me $70 for the belt and fitting. I was going to do it myself, but there was some miscommunication between me and the mechanic. Ah wellz. Now that its replaced, I don't have to worry about it.

Thanks peeps!

Sorry Adam, I don't know. Mine wasn't original. Maybe one of the other guys can help you, or maybe do a search.
