Sa it say what is the difference to the V8 that Toyota made when the update was done in May 1995.

May 1995

Oh, where do I start.

Main difference as stated is increase of c/r.
I believe one of the cams changed spec slightly too.

Other differences include going from billet fuel rails to cast fuel rails.

I believe the US ones went to full sequential injection, rather than 4 batches of 2.
Not sure if JDM ones did it too.

Now that I think of it, thats about all there was.

Cold Start Injector removed from 94 on.

In one stage the spark plug gap was reduced to .8mm (ECU change in the term as well)
Only for 1 year..

Sequentinal Injection will revert to Bank fire after a certain rev range :-)

I wasn't sure about the CSI.
I knew VVTi's ditched it, just wasn't sure about the mid ones.

Its a stupid device the CSI.
Why Toyota didn't do cold start enrichment from the get go I don't know.

What change allowed the CR to go up - change in either piston or combustion chamber design or a thicker head gasket?

Wouldn't a thicker head gasket lower the CR?

The Gen2 1UZ got its higher c/r from different pistons.

I am led to believe its an interference motor.
So those with 95+ 1UZ's, don't forget to change the timing belt.
