Last weekend I got half way through a s/s eggcup BFI. I've got the eggcups cut and in place and I'm thinking of using some flat carbon fibre panels for ducting. Is it just my car or are all the "air flow panel thingie's in front of the radiator" attached at the front edge with an aluminium extrusion and some clips?

Morgan, make a template out of cardboard then make the lid from Aluminium sheet, about 0.6-0.8mm thick. Should look good. You should be able to use some of the existing holes in the car to fix it in place.

Tim if you have a V8 then skip the radiator part and take air from the scoop under the headlight. TT people can not do that so easily because they need clutter bits to cool their snails.
All this metal sheet, cardboard templates, cutting and stuff. Never thought you could start a war on BFI materials but try the 10mm insulated rubber. It is good insulation in itself, it is silver backed, it is sticky on the other side and you just cut it and shove it in to any awkward curve or gap you need to handle; and it looks good when you have finished, in black or silver to taste.

I was using some coreflute which worked fine though it did look a little cheap n nasty. My brother sourced some textured plastic (god knows where he got his hands on it) which I think looks a lot better.
I put did not like the look of having the radiator duct hanging down, so to neaten it up I folded up a little aluminium scoop at work and installed it in the duct. It doesn't stand out at all and goes with the rest of the "it came like that from the factory" look that most people seem to be going for.
Anyone who wants one email me zbfairlane@yahoo.co.uk I will try to locate my drawing, and if it is worth my while, I will fold a few up. I can probably make it out of titanium, stainless, or AlClad like mine is. I am more than happy if enough people are interested.

Anthony, I had the same thought a long time ago (not too hard to make), but I didn't want to cut a hold in the factory air flow panel, so i just lowered it doing a traditional BFI. No issues with overheating here in Oz either, so should not cause you guys in the UK any issues either.
I didnt like the look of having the shroud out of place, and also my temp guage messed up my air con when it wasnt in the right place, that was instrumental in my scoop installation..

here is a picture of my drawing for the scoop. Use this yourself or if you want me to make one for you it is thirty bucks plus postage made from alclad.
