Callum, I think I used to get around 9 to 10 km/litre before any mods but now it's more like 8 to 9km/l. I put most of that down to the high stall converter. Strangely, it seems to have made more difference fuel wise than any other mod including going from 3.9 to 4.08 diff. In fact the diff didn't make much difference at all contrary to expectations. Mind you, I won't be going back to a standard torque converter. The difference in driving the car is just worth it! Probably a more sedate driving style would help.....but that ain't happening either.
I reckon 7km/l is a bit much if that was really what you meant (rather than 7l/100km) unless it is all city driving.

I've not noticed any real difference between fuels regardless of brand or octane rating as far as consumption goes; there is some difference in performance with Vortex being the best for some reason.

city driving 480 - 630km per tank .... obviously depends on how i drive only ever Beepee 98. average about 530km per tank only mod is BFI ... oh and i took some lead out of my right foot. i have no 02 sensors in my zorst either ... is that bad?

i get pretty much exactly 9 k's to a litre, city and freeway driving. pretty happy with it.

have you guys seen those fuel saver things on ebay, an ioniser magnet thing which fits on your fuel line and those air flow things.

has anyone tried them...do they work?

I looked them up and found you can get a variety of products, some of which seem the same. With regard to their effectiveness and real value, I feel I can do no better than let the product blurbs speak for themselves. Please read them. They get better as they go.

quote:

Infra-red
When radiated, the electrons trapped in the interacting field between HC molecules are activated. The photon is resonantly absorbed to raise the electron to an excited state, having enough kinetic energy to overcome the electrical potential set by intermolecular van der Waals force. The electron eventually escapes from the field. The bonding between HC molecules is broken and fuel clusters become finer with increased combustibility.
After breaking away from other HC companions, the electron of the freed molecule, which is still in an excited state, returns to its equilibrium state by releasing a photon with the same characteristics as that having been absorbed. Meanwhile, other forced-apart molecules may re-establish intermolecular bond, again due to van der Waals force. The newly released photons will now cause the electrons in re-formed HC clusters to initiate another separation process. It is recurrent, until photons are completely dissipated as heat within, or escape from the system, that usually takes about a few minutes to hours.
However, it generally takes only seconds before the activated fuel enters into combustion chambers. It’s expected that the fuel activation effect caused by far infrared radiation will persist throughout the fuel delivery to the piston cylinders.

quote:

Magnetic
Fuels are mainly made up of hydrocarbons. With the use of the Super Fuel Saver, fuels change their magnetization orientation as they cross a magnetic field in the opposite direction of the external magnetic field. At the same time, hydrocarbon molecules change their configuration which reduces the intermolecular attraction forces. The fuel saver finely divides and distributes the particles evenly thus making the combustion more efficient.

The fact that Carbon and Oxygen have opposite magnetic polarity by using the Super Fuel Saver both Carbon and Oxygen are easily fused together producing a better and efficient combustion. As a result of the fusion of fuel and air, the engine works more efficiently generating greater power, reducing the consumption of fuel, and also the hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxide which emanate from the exhaust.

quote:

[Both at once]
How it works
[... powered by a ... Neodymium super conductor far infrared ray, which delivers an incredible force of 12000 Gauss..."
Fuelex by absorbing the photic and thermal energy to improve the radiation of the far infrared ray.
Apply the far infrared ray materials to this fuel saver makes the oil molecule to be decomposed on the frequency of radiation. Because of this, the far infrared ray can go through the oil tube and shrink the oil molecule and then cause the magnetic resonance between oil molecules and mineral materials molecules. To rely on the resonance, the oil molecule will be broken, and the impurities in the fuel will be fully isolated. In the meantime, the resonance will also produce anion and oxygen, so the fuel can reach 100% complete combustion without any amassed carbide in the engine by the easy combination of the air and oil molecule. That is why the horsepower can be improved, the fuel can be saved, and the life of the engine can be extended.

These blurbs appear (variously) to describe nuclear fusion or fission including the perfect conversion ("100% complete") of mass to energy, which unfortunately may result in a reduced rather than extended life for your engine. However, rest assured that its departure will be quite spectacular, if somewhat damaging to your city of residence.

Of course, if you wish to save some money I am sure you can do no better than purchase Arnold Palmers 33,000 Gauss bracelet for $49.95 or the 102,000 Gauss version for $89.95, from
http://www.byregion.net/marketplace/HealerPages/generalhealers/Magnets%20-%20Healing%20Arts
Whether worn on your wrist or on the fuel line, I am sure they will be equally effective.

For starters, a magnet will have no effect on simple hydrocarbons because they are non-polar ie. not really able to be aligned with a magnet as the blurb says they will. Water is polar, so if something dissolves in water then a magnet may do something (magnets to improve blood flow), but fuel is non-polar.

No idea on the effect of infra-red, but sounds like a load of crap. If they can't explain it in Layman's terms, then I think they're trying to baffle us with their BS.

And if all these things are so good at reducing fuel consumption, then why are they not fitted OEM???!?!?!

Cyclones are probably one of the better products on the market. Although the only similar OEM fitment of these items is swirl inducers in some new LEV engines. These are fitted to the inlet runners, not just any-old-where in the inlet as increased turbulence will have an effect on tuning.

My god, I'd only pay about $15,000 a year in taxes... maybe I should move there. Then again, I did about 400km of open road driving on the weekend and loved every minute of it, even though it was pissing down.

You and your Soarer are always welcome here! Piss is in plentiful supply from April to Sept... straightaways less so though... sigh
