came across this on eBay- (
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Fuel-Saver-4-Lexus-IS200-IS300-Soarer-SC300-SC400-GS300_W0QQitemZ4581219046QQ categoryZ72469QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) Its a fuel saver apparently. Works using magnetic waves to break up particle cluster that forms in fuel.

Have a read. Let us know what you think-another scam?

Very doubtful. Although all you can do is get one and test it?

Its not just about minimising fuel loss, but it argues it increases efficiency and performance.

Didn''t Peter Brock try introducing something like this to the HDT / Brock commodores? Just around the time he was kicked out of HDT? heh

When I had the shift kit done, the guys had advertisements all over the place for this thing called Vaporate - alledgedly only 70% of the fuel you put in the tank gets burned up, this thing is a collar for the fuel injector I think and it alledgedly makes use of 100% of the fuel instead - about 600 something bucks from memory, don't know if its any good tho

There is either a minimum effect- or a psychological accessory effect. Nuisance that does not help, yet does not do anything bad either.

Stephen, the Vaporate could work.
Some cars come with injectors that dont atomise/break up the fuel properly. By heating the ends, the fuels more likely to be a vapour and you can extract more energy from the same amount of fuel.

On new cars like the mitsubishi 380 etc, with something like 6 holes per injector, it would have little effect.

Also remember that at heavy load, and in batch fire engines like the V8, the injector is often firing against a closed valve.

I work on the principle that if these things work then they'd come standard on new cars and everyone would know about them...

You can do the same thing by strapping a magnet to your fuel line. :-)

I saw someone having strapped an electric fuel saver to a Honda Prelude.

It's a capacitor that makes sure that the electrical current going to the engine is constant and correct. Something for cars with XXL subs.

Wouldn't know if it would work though.

I prefer photon induction, just strap a torch to your intake and... well to say more would give away too much towards unlocking the secret cheat for 10000 rpm in a soarer

But seriously, here is another spin on it.

Benny, it wont be anything but a capacitor.
Just an energy buffer.. what elese could it be.
It stores upto 15v (alternator outputs about 14.4) and discharges if there is a usage spike.

Ignition wont benefit unless there is a problem to begin with. Could be good for amps, thats why people buy such large capacitors and wire them between the battery and their amplifiers.

Thanks Cihan, that's what I thought. Just didn't know if it would help the ignition part. Obviously not.

I never even contemplated putting such a thing in my car. I have a very large battery that should easily handle it anyway.
