Hi guys, first post here!
The other day I was driving home and heard a thunk noise, thought I might of hit something but car was ok. Then later after going to drive out I noticed my car leaked power steering fluid _everywhere_ all over the carport. On further inspection I saw a high pressure hose (one connected to the power steering pump on the top) had a leak in it. Would it be possible that my pump blew and then make a big crack in the hose?. Is there anyway to really check to see if my pump is dead apart from going and getting replacement hose and then refilling the fluid and seeing how we go?

If ya steering still FEELS ok, then I would say you've just popped a hose...............no biggie, just get hold of a Pirtek type dude and they'll whip you up a new one.

did you fill it with power steering fluid before re-driving it???
Also, after the thud, how long did you drive it for? Maybe it's leaked dry, and you've done the pump in because it's been running dry.
I had a similar issue when I first bought my car, came home no issues, came out later and there was a squealing noise when I turned the wheel. Checked the Power steering level and it was low, filled it, and it was low again later that day.
After checking for a while, I got the better half to turn left to right full lock completely each way, and I inspected the pipes and found 2 pin-holes in the main pressure pipe.
Took the bugger to Pirtek at Mascot in Sydney, and removed the pipe, had then re-connect a new hode to the connectors, then re-fitted the pipe, and bleed and filled the steering fluid, and she has been sweet for the last 43,000 kms...

EDIT: ohh and forgot to say, it only cost me $120/pipe I had replaced.
