Well i just rebuilt my power steering pump with the seal kit and new bearing, replaced the 2 hoses off the reservoir and then flushed the system as per the tutorials that can be found here and on other sites.
Problem is now that at idle power steering is non existent (very heavy). Once driving its ok. Power steering worked fine before rebuild without any of these problems.
Now after a quick search the problems it could be are:
Belt slipping - i cant hear any squeaking Dirty fluid - as said, i flushed the system until clean fluid was coming out. Pressure sensor in rack dirty - Possibly? but unsure how it would get dirty during the rebuild. Proportioning valve in pump dirty - the entire pump was cleaned during the rebuild and was in quite good condition throughout. Idle too low - as far as i can tell this hasn't changed
There arent any noises so i dont think there is any air in the system.

Yeah ben, that's the valve. I rebuilt one of these not long ago, and by the sounds of it, your valve is sticking. This is generally caused by pulling out the valve and teeny tiny particles of crap lining the bore where it sits in the pump. Unfortunately the only thing to fix it is to pull it apart again and "polish" the bore with VERY fine emery paper. If you don't do this, the valve will get more and more sticky, eventually ending up staying shut and you get no power steering, this happened to me so I had to buy a replacement pump and hybrid the two together.

Well Peter was spot on, just pulled it all out again and sure enough the valve was in the wrong way. Let that be a note to all the pseudo mechanics out there that attempt this, steering is the goods now
