So I had a leaking power steering pump which I think was the reservoir o ring (which has now been replaced) I also changed the alternator. Now the pump is making a fair bit of noise and when I turn the car off the power steering pump fluid will foam up and over flow! Any ideas...

I used Dexron III ATF.

Air in the system most likely.

Bleeding is basically jacking the front off the ground, idling the motor and turning the steering wheel from side to side while checking the fluid level.

Thanks! I'm curious, does jacking the front end off the ground do anything other then make it easier to turn the wheels? Because I've turn the wheel lock to lock a lot. Will the front end being elevated help in removing air?

Mainly to reduce the stress and save the tyres.

Is the foaming reducing at all or staying the same?

I am wondering if it can be sucking air in somewhere.

Well it's not foaming over nearly as much as it was and the noise from the pump did get a little quieter. It doesn't look like it's leaking from anywhere other then foaming over. Could a flush help? Or turning the wheels while jacked up with the car off work?

Probably just need to take your time and bleed it more - slowly, otherwise the foam may just get pumped back in.

Wheels off the ground may help, and also reduce stress on the pump while it's still dealing with air.

Well I jacked the car up and with the car off turn the wheel back and fourth probably 100 times. Turned the car on and silence, turned the wheel and a little noise.....turn the wheel again and a little more noise take a look in the reservoir and it's starting to foam again. After a few minutes it's as loud as it was before. I'm not sure what to do next, it must be sucking air from somewhere.

I guess what I should add is I'm a scheduled to head out of town for three days and put on about 1500km. Should I concern myself with the noisy pump and not risk the trip or go on the trip because it's not a huge deal to drive it like this???
