Having watched a few guys attempt transplants, the first hurdle to overcome is physical limitations. I assume the falcon bay is plenty big enough.
The second with most 'modern' engines is getting the electronics to run( especially with an auto box, dash, fuel computer etc). The Soarer was an complicated design with all the bells and whistles, but all the electronics required to tie it all together. You could try transferring the dash and complete harness across from a front cut.
The third thing is cost. Double your worst case spend to cover the little( and big) unforseen things.
Might be interesting if you go ahead with it though. I remember when guys started with rotary geminis, hemi powerred HQs, and Hi-tech torana transplants. The traditionalists screamed blue murder. Fun to watch actually.

Why bother.... Just Bolt a turbo onto the side of the 4.0L and go from there! WIth stock compression you should be able to run a Gt30/40 series up to 8 maybe 10psi. Just grab a turbo from a BA xr6T second hand and get a manifold...

Callum. There's no risk involved when you just sh!tcan everyone else's ideas. Nah seriously I reckon they may just want to save the man some cash, and a headache and it just comes across as negativity.
Isaac- Mate I completely understand the desire to do things differently, and DIY. Just be careful that you don't end up with less grunt and more headaches than the turbo kit.
The turbo kit has probably been designed specifically for your application, and the five grand is probably the total figure less tuning. $3500 for the JZ motor is only the beginning. Do you want to engineer it for the road? There's $500-$1500 just there alone even if the engineer is completely happy.
If you are really committed then do some reading up on conversions in general, and maybe read the threads about Lew's 'JZ into van' conversion, or some of the cressidas running JZs.

A friend of mine has a 1JZ in a Leyland P76. Not for a laugh either. He just wanted to try something a bit different than the normal bigger V8 option. It runs a wolf ecu. It goes pretty well also, considering it probably would weigh in at around 1300kgs.

anyone know the weights of the stock falcon six and eight engines versus the 1JZ and 1UZ? The 1UZ into a falcon (ex v8 type - all the gear is already there to support it) sounds interesting.

Personally i wouldnt bother with the 1uz swap...
I would just get a built 4.0L ( ef - el motor) from Jim Mock Motorsports in Vic.. They design a stage 5 pacxkage that makes 180-190rwkw and makes a bucket load of torque...
Otherwise, you could speak to Rob Herrod @ Herrod Motorpsorts and speak to him about Cam selections. I used one of his grinds in my old 3.9L and it ran a 14.0 @ the old Eastern Creek track many years ago.

I would look at capa.com.au and get a supercharger kit to go on the stock 4L. That would get you more power than a 1JZ conversion for similar money.
The Falcon's are a bit heavy car and require good torque to make them perform. Before my Soarer I had a 2005 XR6 which has the same power figures as the Soarer but doesn't go anywhere near as hard.
