I have recently replaced my plug leads and as part of this had to remove the engine bay plastic covers. When i was reassembling them i was annoyed to see that the screw holes used to secure them back in place were just crappy plastic things that just snapped to pieces. There was a small square metal bit that sat in the center, but since the plastic is snapped it's now useless.. Here's some pics to show what i mean:

So right now I can't replace them.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think you can buy replacement threaded clips...

Stupid cheap auto might have them... I've seen the self tapper variants, not sure about metric threaded ones tho..

Maybe you could get some off a wreck or a part out?

Get some Qbond and remake the plastic bit but stronger, you can get it from repco.

They've been broken on just about every 1UZ I've owned.

They break because people overtighten the bolts that hold it together.
But I suppose thats what you get when Toyota uses bolts with 10mm heads.
