My drivers door and ignition barrel were a bit rough with putting the key in and out, particularly the drivers door, you would have to wriggle it out some times.

So what I recommend is getting some WD40 or CRC and a small flat blade screw driver.

Just push the entry flap on the barrels open and squirt some of the lubricant in there as well as on the key its self and pull it in and out a few times as well as turning it.

Just make sure you dont get the stuff on the paint, I was careful not to.

Results are mint now, my key action has never been so effortless and smooth.

Highly recommended!

You don't have keyless entry Mike?

I hate using the key. I would love a push button start with no key.

Matt.

My wife bought an alarm off Trademe for a couple of dollars. It looks to be OK, so I'll have a crack at installing it in the family taxi on the weekend, and if it works I'll get another one for the Soarer. Normally I hate cheap alarms, but this one really does seem to have all the basics covered including adjustable motion sensor.

Graphite (in a squirty bottle) is better for locks. CRC and the like attract and hold dust which is ultimately bad for the lock.

And non-liquid lubricant is advised, liquid lubricants attract dust and dirt.
