Never heard of them, but i will say, for the amount of labour involved in doing the timing belt, the fact you can overheat an engine and destroy it if a cheap one fails, And the fact a Toyota pump only needs replacing every 100,000km's ( well its recommended when the timing belt is off)... Gives lots of reason for sticking with Genuine items when they are so important on an engine.

Hey, yeh i agree with that, just thought someone on here might of tried one of them...
this place "Lezura" does say "O.E high quality, not a cheap copy" in the ad but of course they could very well be lying...
wondering should i email them to see if they can be more specific to what the build quality is like compared to manufacturers standard? which is what they are saying it is...

When on Norfolk I had an aftermarket water pump put on the car as I was having the timing belt since labour costs were very low there (around $30/hr!) and while I ordered a Toyota pump a cheapie was supplied (from the island's only Toyota dealer) from NZ. Within a couple of weeks it was noisey so another was supplied under warranty- the bearings had come close to failing.
The replacement pump is far from quiet, but hasn't gotten any noisier in over a year, or failed. I had to pay for labour to have it fitted, too, although the mechanic charged me very little as he said he had the job down pat, having only just done it!
The irony was that my engine had a sticker on it with a belt change at 125k kms (car had 163k up at the time), and I suspect the water pump was changed also as the pump that came off looked near-new. I keep it as a reserve.

thank you mike, my engine also has a sticker (a japanese one) that says work was done at 100k and im now up to 144 and my concern is that i dont know if the pump was changed, or if it was just a timing belt.
the water pump isnt noisy at all, but i thought for peace of mind id fit one and maybe one of those bullet proof belts aswell while there, just have a feeling i'll get it all apart only to find the pump and belt have been done...better safe than sorry i guess.

It's a hard one to call, Kenny. I think that many Japanese mechanics are very conscientious, and would replace the pump on a TT as a matter of course. I have no way of knowing whether mine had been done at another time before the 125k mark (which is rather late) but the final owner in Japan was in the case of my car obviously conscientious, there were many "Dymo" stickers for various upcoming services, including the auto trans (with the assumption being that the workshop had performed the services previously).
Your water pump is different to ours, which is somewhat less stressed, I guess, than that on a TT. I doubt there is any need, either, for a "super" timing belt, the Toyota ones are good quality.

thanks, so do you think the water pump would of packed in by now had it not been changed? bearing in mind im on 145 now, as you said that 125 was rather late on a less stressed pump...
...could really do with saving my pennies for the clutch and fly that require investment...but not at the cost of my engine melting
i think water temp, oil/fuel pressure guages would be a good idea too.

Hard one to call, Kenny. From several years on this forum I've gathered that TT pumps often fail around the 100k mark, or a bit after, hence them being routinely changed at that time (also saves on labour). Have you tried some of the US sellers of genuine Lexus/Toyota? I got a '97 tail light off one on Ebay reasonably priced and I'm sure I remember genuine water pumps (which I didn't need at the time) for good prices. There's a plethora of "OE standard" makers over there. I'd worry about putting a cheapie Chinese copy on though, could be worse than an elderly Toyota one!

That is really cheap, alot less than over here it seems, ive even got a friend who MOTs for Toyota and without vat the pump is still £130, for that i could get one shipped from australia by the sounds of it lol...
I defenately wouldnt want to ruin it by puttin a cheap copy on it instead of o.e but thought id ask in case anyone had used them...and it seems Mike that what i said before about a clutch investment, has become a reality as i went to take the beast out tonight i couldnt get the power down, felt like clutch was pretty much constantly slipping.
is there a guide for the manual clutch change on here?

Kenny, I just checked in my Ebay favourite sellers to pass it onto you, but it struck me that he wouldn't have TT pumps as that model was never imported into US, although if it were same as Supra one it still might be available (TT is 1 series Supra 2 series, of course).

Don't know Kenny, it's 2 1/2 years since I bought anything off them but they still appear to be in business. It would be best to check whether the pumps are the same before asking- I don't know. Mine is different- you have an extra outlet for the turbo, I think.

well when i bought mine recently ( 2 months ago) i asked why the waterpumps were so cheap and the toyota man said TOYOTA had re-priced many of its "service type" parts as they were simply not selling enough due to other manufacturers making copies.
Yes they are the same as the SUPRA one

Personally, I wouldn't buy any cheap sh!t that is going to be installed as part of my cooling system. Engines don't run so good when any part of the cooling system fails.
