Hi,I have just repaired a leaky power steering hose on my V8 soarer and when i went to reinstall it i found a small hose that was disconnected. The hose comes out of what looks like a sensor on the power steering pump side of the main hose.Would anyone know where it plugs into.I have checked everywhere and could nt anything to plug it into.
Thanks

Sounds like the idle up control. There should be a small hose that goes to the inlet trunking next to the large hose that feeds the ICV.

Before you reconnect it, it might have been disconnected because it's faulty and allowing PS fluid to be drawn into the intake....

Will it be OK disconnected?I would prefer to reconnect it to test it.What is the ICV?

The ICV is the idle control valve and it's on the front of the intake manifold, has a black round cover on it with a large hose that runs back to the intake trunking.

Next to the large outlet on the intake trunking for the ICV there should be a smaller outlet for the idle up connection to the power steer pump. If this outlet is blocked off then they have obviously done so for a reason.

Most cars seem to run fine without this idle up connection.

Find the big airbox behind the drivers headlight, follow the outlet and you will see the airflow meter which has an electrical connector on it.

The intake trunking is connected to the meter and the two outlets are right there pointing towards the passenger side of the vehicle.

Perhaps you need to post a picture of your engine bay. You comment that you removed the PS hose, did this occur when you removed the leaking hose?

Thanks on the info,it seems pretty staight forward and i know where to look now.

When i went to refit the hose it was disconnected,it might have been on there loosly and come off.The steering definatly feels stiffer since i reconnected the main PS hose so i am guessing its that smaller hose.
