for about the past week or two i've noticed that after driving my car even when cruising, once i turn off the engine a few minutes later the coolant starts to make boiling sounds in the overflow bottle. but the temp gauge has never budged from the middle? checked coolant levels, they have never changed either? any ideas?

Is the hydraulic fan working all the time when it starts to get hot?
It might be a partially blocked radiator. If it's not cooling enough coolant/water, when the car is switched off there's not enough coolant to dissipate the heat when the hydraulic cooling fan is switched off. So the water boils under the engine temp.
Well, that's my attempt at a story anyway. Anyone else got any ideas?

ok, as jason saids, check your fan. if that is all working fine then replace the thermostat as it might not be opening properly. if that doesnt fix it, then get your radiator cleaned. when your can is cold, start it up pop the hood take the radiator cap off and watch it for a 3-4 mins see if the coolant is bubbling. if so then it i would suspect head gasket.
