Hello Guys, i have been getting the engine electrical system fault light coming up recently, i just did the diagnostics mode check and pressed the scroll button, it gave me EFI then EFI NG EFI 52. I checked up what 52 is and its the no.1 knock sensor, is this right? would it say EFI before it if it was?

Knock sensors output a known rythmic signal that the ECU requires to see otherwise it will put up and error code. When the signal has knock added to it the ECU retards timing but it needs the base signal to work.
If the knock sensor signal is not present due to the knock sensor failing or is not mounted securely it will cause the error code.
I would check the output from the knock sensor with a CRO and see if it is a real problem or if the ECU is having issues.

Hi guys, just an update. I have tried my mates ECU and it still came up even after resetting the fault. So i guess that the ECU isn't the prob;em, could it be the coil packs not creating a good spark? what other symptoms would i get if it was cause it drives nice and free revs great but starts to splutter and stuff in the mid range. Could it actually be my knock sensor? what is a CRO? thanks guys

most of the first and second lot of ls1 engines after putting aftermarket extractors on come up with knocking light, because the extractors "ting" when the engine ignites which puts the frequency back through to the sensor.
aftermarket tuning can relax the sensor readings now.
but what puts a spanner in the works is that you have a supercharger which could be causing the problem when the supercharger "rotors" go through the compression cycle.
