Hey to all. I currently have my 1991 uzz31 for sale. Half the reason for the sale is I am under the P plate laws so I cant drive a V8 :-( but one of my friends put the idea in my head of pulling out the V8 and slipping in a 1jz or 2jz non turbo motor. I do not have EMV so is this dream possible ? Im just after some advice. Or is it a useless mission.

Well you cant drive a turbo either so say goodbye to the 1JZ idea.

In all honesty mate i reckon its "a useless mission"

I mean the money and time that would need to be invested in changing the engine over just so you could drive that particular vehicle wouldnt be worth it. You would be better off selling the V8 and buying yourself a decent JZZ31 with the non turbo 2JZ engine, i would suggest a later model one with the VVTI engine also. There certainly are some fantastic non-turbo later model soarers getting around (plenty of black on black ones also for all you lovers)

If you are attached to your current car due to its interior, rims or other bits that can be swapped and you can afford to buy a JZZ31 also, maybe you could buy it and then swap your bits over into the new car so it has leather, the rims etc.

yea na not really attached to the car although i do love the interior :-) just thought that it may be easier and cheaper considering I already have the uzz31 in my yard. I would be doing all the work myself as im very mechanicly minded.

I'm fairly sure that you are also not allowed to drive a modified car.
Which a UZZ31 with a 2JZGE would be classed as.

Queensland transport wrote on , , :

Exemptions

You are eligible to apply for an exemption to drive a high powered (performance) vehicle if:

you need to drive a high-powered (performance) vehicle:
to, or from, your place of employment
in the course of your employment
to, or from, the education institution you attend
to get medical treatment for yourself or a family member
or
the only car available to you is a high-powered (performance) vehicle:
that you owned before 30 June 2007 and you have owned since, including the date you apply for the exemption
that is owned or leased by a member of your immediate family†, or
that an immediate family member† uses as part of an employment or salary package agreement
and

there is no other transport available to you
and

not issuing an exemption will cause severe hardship.

Fall under those at all?
